You know I think that playlist 's writing is gorgeous, she uses description to make you feel every gust of wind and feel the sting in the smallest cuts. you're put through an experience when reading her works.
Now just because I'm fond of her style, that doesn't mean that I should try to imitate her for many reasons.
One, I'd fail terribly. Two, it would take up too much concentration to try and make it exactly like hers(to which refer back to one).
And three, even if I was able to mimic her style, that form of writing doesn't come naturally to me, which means I'd constantly be unhappy because I'm restricting my mind from it's true potential by forcing it to think in a way that it doesn't want to.
I love akratics. her story"arsonists", is beautiful to me because of the way she can describe personalities, people and settings. She can mold a world to fit her characters perfectly, but I shouldn't try to write like her.
One, I don't have her training. Prior to writing arsonists(an action story), she wrote poetry, poetry trained her mind to be able to take notice and appreciate the impact of the smaller details, helping in describing the different scenes, mannerisms and vibes of any particular chapter—she knows how to set the mood and the tempo of a story because poetry encourages the reader to feel and experience the motions.
And again, this just doesn't come naturally to me. though I love her style and decided to marry her multiple times do to my love for it, I could never bring myself to write that way or else I'd quit writing within a week, because it's not me.
While I love reading someone else's descriptions and vivid pictures, I slightly dread the idea of being very detailed with things. I like to keep things vague enough that it can be filled in with the imagination—hence why I struggle to write a chapter that's longer than 600 words.
My writing style, though it varies greatly from project to project, still has key aspects that seem to be present whenever I write.
I enjoy being psychological. I like giving abstract concepts personality, and I enjoy putting two things that seemingly don't relate together. I pay more attention to general plot lines than I do characters.
Though I may not blow you away with my descriptiveness, I work to excel in story plotting and interesting concepts.
That's what suits me, that's what comes naturally to me and I can easily wake up in the morning and do that without the struggle of trying to mimic anyone else.
That's why I describe this process as tailoring your own tale to fit you.
It's the tailor's job to make the clothing fit you perfectly. I can't ask the tailor to give me playlist or akratics 's clothes, because they wouldn't fit properly.
I have to pick my own buttons, and fabric, and sleeve lengths, I have to be happy with my own story and continue to improve on myself instead of comparing myself to others.
likewise, try to find authors that fit your ideal writing style so you can read and learn from them.
as I said before, I'm very plot driven. so if I want to become better at writing good plots I should expose myself to other plot driven writers such as LATTESALT
LATTESALT has many different stories, no two plotlines are the same. the story could go from sweetness to suddenly the end of the world in the span of three chapters—and it would totally make sense because she is excellent when it comes to storylines.
So going forward, don't worry about others, while you can still take inspiration and pinpoint things that you love from other writers—never compare yourself to/or try to become them.

this chapter is dedicated to my examples, playlist , akratics & LATTESALT as they all are really amazing writers who inspire me in different ways.
