Chapter Six

It's been one week since the hospital released me so I could go back home and return to my daily life. Girls look at me like I'm a helpless puppy and can't fend for myself. They all try to help me by caring my books to class after they give me their numbers. I've only heard from Phoebe once and that was the night I got home from the hospital.

I sigh while sitting in my seat waiting for the class to begin. I didn't want to be at school because these past couple of days have been hard. Basketball season had just started and I'm in no condition to even step onto the court so my dreams of becoming a college basketball player are gone. I'm happy that I managed to keep my grades up these past four years otherwise my whole future would be shot down in flames. Basically I know now that I'm set up for college academically rather then for sports which gives me a better feeling.

The bell rings and I realize that half of the class isn't even in the class room when class officially begins. The teacher pulls his hair before taking attendance for the students that actually managed to arrive to class on time. In the hallway I could hear the faint chant from individuals fighting. I roll my eyes before flipping my textbook open while the teacher leaves the room to deal with the mess.

This is how my school has been the whole past week since I got out of the hospital. There have been at least two fights everyday in the hallways between people that can't seem to settle their disagreements with words. I pull my work out of my folder before setting it on top of my open text books before I feel somebody sit next to me. At first the person is poking me but after a while it didn't stop I finally look at her.

"Yes?" I ask feeling annoyance bubbling in my blood.

She tilts her head and smiles, "I cannot believe you actually said something to me! I told you Phoebe!"

"Of course, why wouldn't I say something after you spent all that time poking me in the side. It's common sense that I'm going to reply to you after you've poked me in the side a bunch of times," I say with a sigh while looking at Phoebe. The girl that was sitting next to me returns to Phoebe's side before I was left all alone at the table again. It has been like this the entire week where I've been sitting alone at the table but I'm alright with that for now.

The teacher enters the room with a disappointed expression before other students start filling into the room too. One of my friends looks at me before coming to sit next to me. His other friends glance at another before they just sit in their normal table arrangements since it was first come first serve base. Nobody in this class period would dare to sit in their spot or they would face some serious trouble from them. Which reminds me, I probably should give that a shot one day to see what their punishment is.

"Hey Danny, how's your leg man?" He asks with curiosity. Currently he was next in line for being one of the star players on the basketball team which happens to be finally able to show with my leg broken.

I smile, "It is feeling better already. I think it's still because I'm on medication for it so when I have to be taken off of it my leg will hurt really bad, but for now its fine. So how have you been doing Ethan?"

"Basketball is off to a good start but I'm really disappointed that I wouldn't be able to finish my high school career with you by my side on the court. Hopefully you'll still come to some of the games and other events since you're practically team," Ethan returns with a grin on his face.

I chuckle, "It's a hope that I can have to be invited to all of these. Maybe the Coach will let me sit on the bench and cheer on all of you from there. Believe me, I would much rather be on the court than sitting on the bench but you know how it goes when you break something."
