Shiroko's POV

I woke up. Everything is hazy. Everything hurts. My vision starts clearing up. I'm lying down on a bed. Its pretty comfy. I managed to get up. I took a step and staggered. I took another and fell. It hurt a lot. The nurse came running in and she helped me up.

"Are you okay dear?" (Girl why df would I be okay I fell and it hurt)

Honestly I really couldn't tell but I don't like worrying people so I lied.

"I'm fine."

I flashed her a shaky smile. She sighed in relief.

"Now dear, get back to bed. Your mom should be here soon to get you."

I obeyed quietly and soon I fell back asleep.

I woke up again. This time I recognized the room. Its my room. On my nightstand my mom had left me a meal and a note. Guess that means she had headed back to work. Outside the window the sky was dark. I really hope there isn't a storm or anything. Tentatively I called out.

"Louis?"

No answer. That means school isn't out yet. All of a sudden, it started to pour. Large, heavy raindrops splattered over my window. The sky heaved, rumbled and roared. A storm had started. I could feel my arms start shaking. I froze. I couldn't move. I curled myself up into a ball. I was scared.

I don't know how much time had passed before warm arms enveloped me. I hugged the person tightly as possible as the tears streamed down my face.

"Shiroko." He breathed. "Are you alright?"

I nodded my head slowly.

"Louis-nii." I felt him stiffen for a second before he gently patted my head and let go. Now that someone was here with me I would be okay. I dried my tears and smiled. He ruffled my hair before handing me the food. I then realized how hungry I was. I snarfed the food down as Louis chuckled. He got up and left without me noticing until I finished my food. Outside it seems the storm had stopped and the sun was shining again. I decided to look at the damage the girls had done to me.

Oh god. All over my body were dark bruises and bumps. Cuts covered my arms from tiny scratches to ones the length of a hand. How though. They didn't even have weapons. Oh wait. Their nails. Rightttttt. Louis returned with some antibacterial solution and bandaids. It stung a lot.

After the last bandaid was placed and Louis left I had decided what I was going to do. I, Shiroko, the girl who was wealthy and always praised, was going to learn how to fight.

Mother got home soon and she was all for it. She said

" Yes honey then you'll go beat those jerks up! Make sure to send me pictures✌️!"

Father on the other hand didn't agree. He argued that he didn't want his little cupcake to turn into a crazy "brawler"

Louis did not join any side and stayed neutral. In the end, mom power won and I was going to get lessons on how to protect myself. (AYYY IMMA BECOME A BADASS) I found out this game is set in a futuristic-like world that also has royalty. So it's a mix. The Empress had died a little before I was born so the Emperor had remarried. He had 4 children. The 1st prince- Prince Sarutawari Atsushi his brother, 2nd prince- Prince Sarutawari Haru, 1st princess- Princess Sarutawari Kimiko and I'm pretty sure there's a few more princesses that I haven't heard of yet. I'm not sure but I think both the princes are capture targets. I'll be able to avoid them though. They're royalty after all. I'm just a commoner.

"Shiroko? I think we lost her."

I blinked. There was something being waved in front of my face. I blanked out without noticing apparently.

"So Shiroko. What do you want to learn?" Father asked grumpily.

"What do I want to learn? Hmm...... I want to........"

"Become a golden guardian."

It took a minute for everything to sink in.

"WHAT?!?!"

Everything became chaos. Father fainted, mother freaked, Louis curled up into a ball of depression. What a wonderful family.

Apparently the news had spread. When I went to school today everyone snickered and laughed at me. Other than my BFF Tachibana Momo.

"Shiro!!"

Momo cheerfully ran up to me and gave me a hug.

"Congratulations on choosing such a fitting career!"

"....Huh??"

She handed me a sheathed sword that was embroidered with jewels and other precious metals.

I didn't know what she was talking about but I decided to thank her. I gave her a hug as she smiled cheerfully, wishing me luck once again and headed off while I put the sword in this conveniently shaped bag I happened to have brought to school today.

Later on, Louis informed me that somehow, the news about me wanting to become a golden guardian had spread and I was now the laughingstock of the school.

"Ow!"

Something nailed me in the head as I was sitting down in my depressing corner. I expected it to be some dirt or something dirty some girls had thrown at me but the item caught my eye.

"A necklace?"

Gently I picked up the necklace. It was absolutely astounding. A silver necklace that held a beautiful key-like shape embedded with small amethysts

(It looks like this but all the gems are purple not purple & blue)

I was drawn to it like a bug to a light. It was simply enchanting. I picked it up and put it in one of the side pockets sewed to my pants.

? POV

"WHERE IS IT?"

He was freaking out about it. I just rolled my eyes.

"Its fine don't worry about it. Its just a necklace. Its not that important."

He turned to me with anxiety in his icy eyes.

"How could you say that? Father will kill us for losing it! Its a valuable treasure!"

I narrowed my eyes and smirked.

"That's only if he finds out."
