I sat there, head in my hands. Two days of blinding sunshine and humidity had passed and four more people were gone forever. I was still throwing up every morning just after I woke and every night after the Capitol anthem.

"Lily?"

I rinsed my mouth out with water and spat into the river: my mother would be cringing at the sight of me doing such a thing.

"Hey butterfly," Adaam said nudging me

"What?" I growled

"Your lover boy sex god said you should eat something?"

Finnick had accompanied Rosie foraging. I insisted I would be fine on my own and begged him to take Adaam with him.

"Get lost Adaam, just leave me alone?"

He paused "Can you walk today?"

I shook my head "Hardly- my legs have packed in."

"So, you want me to leave you here like a sitting duck?"

"Pretty much: just get the Hell away from me."

"Pfft, fine then?" He hissed storming away.

As I forced down an apple I heard a scream just above my head.

"Oh dear God." I whispered- Adaam...

I pulled myself onto my feet and climbed up the bank with my spear.

"ADAAM!" I screamed seeing his body flat on the ground, blood spurting from his stomach

I held his hand "Oh my- wha-"

He looked at me breathing heavily "Hi...Butterfly."

"Just- listen- who did this to you!?"

"C-Carter: he must've-" he coughed and wheezed making more blood trickle into the grass "Broke his alience with Zanna."

We heard heavy footsteps. I knew Carter was a huge guy.

"T-that's him." Adaam said

I tried to get up but my legs had given up. I was finally the sitting duck I thought I would be.

Adaam plunged my t-shirt into his blood pool.

"Adaam?!" I hissed

"Get down and lie still."

He took a kinfe from his pocket, sank it into the grass to bloody it and pulled my hair until I led flat to the grass.

I heard the heavy footsteps end and a gasp seep into the air. Carter's body fell ontop of me, stone-cold dead. His cannon boomed. I heard the killer's footeps fade away- I could regonise them anywhere. Zanna had killed again. I heaved Carter's body off of me and gently brushed away the hair from Adaam's face. He blinked and mumbled "Dont think...Lover...boy...would...be...happy."

"You know Adaam you're the only friend I ever had."

He smiled "Good to know?"

"I'm sorry I wrecked your birdwatching?"

"I'm dying and that's...what...you're bothered...about?"

I shrugged "Yeah."

He smiled again "Silly Lily."

I nodded "Stupid Abernathy? Right?"

He nodded "Love you as a friend Lily-Jay the butterfly."

It wobbled into a frown and he was gone. I got my fingers and drew his eyes shut,

"God bless the four of you." The letter had said. I hoped now that that's who Adaam was with. It was what he deserved. A cannon boomed for Adaam-18 dead so far. Count the one earlier for Carter- 19 dead. That meant there were...6 of us left- 3 crazy ones- Zanna being one of them- and me, Finnick and Rosie.

The crazy ones were fighting like animals while the ones of us that still had souls were hiding in a cave.
