Michael's first real wish was at age 7. He wished for a new best friend. You see, seven year old Michael needed a friend who would play video games and eat pizza with him. He found that friend in Tyler.

Michael's second proper wish was made at age 13. Once again, Michael Clifford wished for a new best friend. He found his true best friend in Calum Hood. Calum was like Tyler, in the aspect at there was much consumption of pizza and playing of video games, but there was going places, doing things, and a sense of comfortableness that Michael was unable to find with Tyler.

When he turned 15, he wished that Luke Hemmings wouldn't hate him. Because if Luke hated him, then he had to hate him back. But with every rude comment and glare in the hallway, Michael felt worse and worse. Because how did he end up hating Luke Hemmings? No one even knew where the hatred stemmed from.

Michael's next few wishes came and went. At some point, his wish for fame came true, and Michael found himself touring the world in a band with his best mates. Including Luke Hemmings. Other things changed too. Michael started noticing little things about Luke like how he looks absolutely adorable cuddled up in a sweater. How Luke's eyes would change colors when he became happy. How his dimple would pop out when he smiled at Michael. Or how his new lip ring made Michael want to kiss him. But Michael would scold himself, because you aren't allowed to be in love with your best mate. Especially if that best mate is already in love with someone else. This "someone" remained a mystery to Michael. Luke refused to tell him who was occupying his mind. So Michael waited. He hoped and dreamed, and waited for his birthday wish. And on Michael's 18th birthday, he wished for one thing.

Luke.

As Michael Clifford blew out his 18 candles, his 4 best friends burst into over-enthusiastic applause.

Calum leaned into his face. "What did you wish for Mikey?"

"You know the rules." Michael replied. "If I tell, it won't come true."

"Fine!" Calum sighed dramatically. "Cut the cake Ash."

As Ashton and Calum messed around with the cake knife, Luke tugged on Michael's hand. His heat jumped into his throat and his palms grew clammy as Luke led him up out the front door and into the backyard.

"So, I wanted to give you a present." Luke smiled shyly at Michael.

"And what would that be?" Michael stared into Luke's eyes, mesmerized by the unfamiliar emotion he saw.

"This." Luke leaned in and pressed his lips to Michael's. Michael kissed back, reveling in the way it felt to finally have Luke's lips on his. Luke pulled back a few moments into the kiss. "Michael, I've been in love with you for so long. And now it's your birthday and I've realized how old we've gotten. Things have changed so much and I realized how much I've lost. But also how much I've gained. And I also realized that I never want to lose you. And I know I said that I was in love with someone. Well that someone was you. I love you."

Michael could barely believe his ears. "I love you too." He leaned in and reconnected their lips. When they finally broke away for air, Michael smiled at Luke. "Be my boyfriend?"

"Of course. Happy birthday Michael."

On Michael's 18th birthday, he wished for one thing.

Luke.

And even though he got the new ps3, a new phone, and a new guitar, nothing compared to Luke.
