Chapter 15

Marilynn's pov

It has been a few weeks since I had Kate. I learned that she is a very quiet baby she barely cries and is all ways sleeping or looking around.

Right now she is sleeping in her crib snoring loudy, me on the other hand is trying to do my homework that Brad brought back from school.

He left not too long ago to go to work. I put out an application for a job a few days ago but didn't get a call back yet, life now is going to a lot more complicated than it all ready is.

When I hear the door bell ring I put my homework down to go and answer it. Brad's mom and dad are here, I am surprised to see them here.

"Hello. I wasn't expecting to see you today" if I had known that that they were coming today I would have cleaved up a little more.

"Come in" I move to the side to let them come inside.

"Where's Kate" Jennifer asks looking around the living room.

"She's upstairs sleeping" I should probably go and wake her up. I don't want her to over sleep.

I lead Jennifer and Richard upstairs to my room where Kate is sleeping. Brad and I both agreed that we did not want her to sleep by herself until she got a little older.

"Here she is" I say to the both of them.

Jennifer and Richard walk passed me to Kate. Jennifer picked her up in her arms.

"She's so small but fat" she comments.

I smile because its true Kate is a chubby baby.

Kate yawns then open opens her eyes quickly closing them again.

Jennifer and Richard stay for a little while longer to bond with there granddaughter. Around three o'clock they get ready to leave.

"If at anytime you need someone to watch Kate, you can all ways ask me" Jennifer offers.

"Thank you. I would really appreciate that" I thank her.

Brad comes home around five from work.

"How was your day" he greets.

"It was fine. Your parents came over to visit Kate".

"Really?"

"Yup. your mom even offered to watch her for me" I say.

"Did she ask for anything" he sounds suspicious.

"No. Why would she ask for anything?" I question.

To me it seems that his mother is trying to change.

"Because I know my mother it might seem like she might have changed but she hasn't" Brad exclaims.

Kate starts crying through the monitor before I can respond to Ian.

"I bet she's still trying to get the both of us to break up" he comments before leaving the room.

His mood changed easily. I don't see what the problem is. Jennifer has seemed to change her attitude from the first time I met her.

"Are you hungry" I ask Brad.

"No" he answers.

He has a scowl on his face as he bounces Kate on his lap.

"You're mad" I comment.

"I'm not mad" he replies, "just frustrated with you".

"With me, why?" I ask.

"Promise me you won't let my mom get to you" I am confused.

"What do you mean".

"This isn't the first time my mother has done this" he says.

"What do you mean" I ask again.

"She did this two years ago. Its why your brother hates me so much".

"I used to like a girl that my mother didn't approve of. I was invited to Matthew's birthday party, his girlfriend was there. I had told him before that she was cheating on him with multiple guys in school. He didn't believe me. So when I went to his birthday party she kissed me. I had pushed her away telling her that she and Matthew were dating and he was her boyfriend".

"She told me that my mother said that I liked her and I would be a much better boyfriend than Matthew. She kissed me again and Matthew happened to walk in that time" he stopped talking.

"Matthew wanted to get back at me so he slept with my girlfriend and told her that I was cheating on her".

He really wasn't a bad guy then.

"Why didn't you tell Matthew what happened".

"I tried to but he wouldn't let me explain what happened" he says.

Brad has a distant look in his eyes all most longing.

"Look I don't want to talk about it anymore just promise me you won't fall for anything. I don't know if she will do the same thing but I am sure she will do something" he asks.
