Marilynn's pov
I felt really bad about walking away from Darren, but I didn't know how to reply to him. I didn't want to hurt his feelings about saying the wrong thing to him. Mostly because I didn't want to ruin our relationship as friends if I had said yes to going out with him. Then at one point we broke up. It would be really awkward to be around him. Hopefully apologizing to him would help.
When I got to school he wasn't there not even Brittany has seen him. She said he must have gone M.I.A. but she also assumed that he was just avoiding me. He missed all of our morning classes and then finally decided to show up at lunch.
"Where have you been all morning" I asked him- he just stared at me not saying anything. After a couple of minutes he replied "I've been out- it's not like you would have cared anyway" he mumbled the last part but I heard him loud and clear.
"Of course I care" I said incredulously "why wouldn't I care, you are my friend. I know you may be upset with me for walking away from you without giving you an answer but I didn't know what to say. If I had said no I knew you would have been as upset with me as you are right now. If I had said yes then our whole entire friendship would have changed- and who knows how it would have been if we had broken up" I tried to explain it the best I could but I don't know if it worked.
"I guess you're right I never thought of it that way" Darren said thoughtfully. "Well on the plus side there are a lot of girls who like you. Get to know some of them and see who seems to fit your standards. You might even find a girlfriend for yourself" Brittany butted in. "How do you know that?" Darren asked, "well it's pretty obvious that a lot of girls like you; you're just too oblivious to notice". Brittany did have a point many girls liked him they were always staring at him I'm surprised he hasn't noticed.
"Like who" he asked "Linsey, she even told me herself". I liked Linsey she was very nice and she was also shy and innocent- which makes her the perfect match for Darren. "The ninth grade Linsey or the eleventh" "the ninth, I think she would be the perfect match for you" I commented. "I guess I could talk to her" Darren complied.
Later that day I saw Darren with Linsey. I was glad that he wasn't made at me and that he understood why I didn't want to go out with him.
"Hey Marilynn" Darren called I turned around and saw him with his arm draped around Linsey. "Hi Darren, Linsey" I smiled, Linsey blushed and gave me a short curt nod. "We're going to the movies later want to come" Darren asked.
"No thank you" I said
"Well see you tomorrow, bye"
"Bye" I replied.

"Marilynn, do you remember Annabelle" Mathew asked "Annabelle our cousin" I asked "yes, that's the one".
"What about her" I asked
"She's on her way over here now, mom and dad have already picked her up from the airport".
"Why didn't they tell us before" I asked. It's not that we didn't like our cousin she's just so annoying and gets whatever she wants.
"There thousands of reasons why they didn't tell us before" Mathew answered cocking an eyebrow.
He had a point there. The last time she came over to visit we did our best to get her to leave. She told our parents that we were bullying her and that we were mean. They grounded us for three weeks and we couldn't do anything but sit in the house doing chores.
Mom and dad walked in the house with Annabelle following behind her. Mathew and I agreed to be quiet and only say hello to her. So far we're doing a good job at it. "Hi, Mathew and Marilynn" Annabelle greeted "hello" we said in unison looking at her, then we turned our heads back to the T.V.
"Be nice to Annabelle this time please" my mother told us "sure mom".
Annabelle came and sat down next to me on the couch. "So how have you been?" She asked I turned to look over at her "fine" if I was going to have to talk to her I was going to keep mg responses short.
"Do you want to go to the mall tomorrow" she asked "can't I have school" I replied sarcastically. "I mean after school, silly" this girl really doesn't get the hint that I want her to leave me alone. I looked over at Mathew with pleading eyes asking him to help me. He grinned and shook his head no. I blew out a short breath and closed my eyes, this is going to be a long night.

The next day at school Brad was standing in front of my locker. I was trying to do my best to ignore him but I don't think he is getting the picture. "What do you want" I said threw gritted teeth "do you hate me or something" he asked ignoring my question. "I don't hate you, you just annoy me a lot" I answered "now what do you want". "Party tonight at my house, be there" he smirked walking away. I don't know why he thought I would be there the two parties that I have been to haven't ended out well who knows how this one will end.
I decided I would go but only for an hour then I would leave. I wasn't planning on telling anyone that I was going. Especially Mathew, he would make sure that I wouldn't go to any party of Brad's.
School went by uneventfully I got in trouble with two of my teachers for talking in class but it wasn't really my fault. The people that were sitting behind me were talking and I attemped to ask them to be quiet but they wouldn't listen to me.
By the end of the day I got detention for two hours which was my plan. After detention I had planned to go home and climb up my latter connected to my window and get ready then walk to Brad's house.
I arrived at his house at eight and people were already drunk I couldn't believe it the party only started two hours ago. Some girls were laying on the front lawn with boys dry humping them, I already knew how this party was going to end.
