¨Oh my god!¨

Jay whipped his head around to see what DJ was talking about.

¨It's my old house!¨ she cried, running up to the dilapidated building. The small house looked like it came from the '10's. Jay walked over, watching, scanning the surrounding buildings for anything that moved. He proceeded only when he deemed the area safe. Suddenly, a scream erupts from from the back of the house. Jay ran down the musty hallway, his trusty .44 Magnum cocked and primed to kill. When he got to the room, he saw DJ sitting on the molded carpet, hunched over.

"DJ?"

"Yeah?"

"What the literal fu-"

DJ stood up carefully, holding a Rubik's Cube in her hands. "I found my first cube! I was so excited because I thought my mom had thrown it away," she said with a hint of nostalgia.

"And here I thought one of them got to you!" Jay scoffed. "Why the fuck are we even still together?!"

"Because," she began, "I'm  the only one who can deal with your ass."

"True," he replied, defeated.

For what seemed like an eternity, the only sounds to be heard were those of the nearby forest and the gentle shuffling of the cube. After a while,  Jay inquired, perhaps trying to end the silence between them, "Hey, didn't 'Kenzie give you that?" DJ remained thoughtful for a moment. "Yeah... It was her gift to me when I transferred here from out of state," She replied, tears welling up. 'Kenzie was Jay's older sister- only by 16 months. She was always compassionate, always helping those less fortunate. That had been her downfall. When the shit hit the fan, she was the first to die. The one person who tied him and DJ together was 'Kenzie.
