We walked through the dark streets that were still wet from the rain that had fallen before. "So..." he said curiously "What's your name?" "Haneul. And yours?" "Taehyung" I smiled at him as he smiled back "You are clearly not from here, so," he said as we went in a pub while he hold the door for me "where do your roots come from?" "I don't know," I said as he didn't understand me "You don't know?" "No, I come from the orphanage. Today is the first day I'm going my own way because I turned eighteen "Really?! That's a nice age..." he observed me "Congratulations!" "Thank you." I said as we went to sit on a little table while the waitress approached us "What do you want to eat or drink?" She politely said "I'm going for a coke." He looked at me with questions in his eyes "Me too." I said as she wrote our orders down. She slowly walked away. We sat next to the window so we could see the black streets illuminated with some light. The boy was still observing me "What makes you wandering through this city?" He said curiously "There are many more nicer cities." "I don't know," I said as the waitress brought our drinks "I have to search for my parents because I have so many questions, so I would start here." I said as I took a sip of the drink "But," he said "But orphans parents are mostly dead. Did your parents just drop you there?" "Yes... it's one of my missions to know why they dropped me there, while they are still alive." I looked to the table made of dark brown wood. "Maybe I can help you," he said while he was very interested "I can help you search them, because I know the whole city and maybe I can answer some questions for you." "That's very nice of you." "So, shall I help you?" "If it's not a burden, it could be very helpful to me." I said as my glass was almost empty "Alright," he smiled "What's your first question?" "Are we starting now already?!" We laughed "Yes," he became a little more serious again as he lied his elbow on the table and his head on his hand like he was very interested "Well,"
This was a very strange question to ask "I was always wondering where my blonde hair and blue eyes came from," I looked him into his blue eyes "because I don't look really... well you know." "Mmh. That's a really good question...." he said still gazing to me. We were quiet for a minute "Are you going to answer my question, or...?" "Maybe later," he said very mysteriously "What's your next question?" "Why did my parents put me away?" "Maybe I know the answer..." he said looking to the traffic light that was now on green "What is it?" "I'll tell you in a little while." "Aish, you make me so curious!" I said as he was enjoying the moment "Do you have more questions?" "A few b-" I saw something shining in his ears. I had always wanted earrings but it was always forbidden by the orphanage: 'No earrings, tattoos, dyed hair or clothes that weren't from the organisation' the rule sounded. I was thinking to much again and got lost in my thoughts. Taehyung said something but I couldn't hear it "I'm sorry, what did you say?" I said waking up as he laughed a little bit "What did you want to say?" "Oh.. erm," I looked to his earrings again "I love your earrings! They are so beautiful." He became a little bit shy and felt of his earrings were still there "Thanks," he said as he looked if he could compliment my earrings or something "Don't you have them?" He said as he came closer to me and pulled my hair aside to see if I had them "No... I've always wanted them, but it was forbidden." I looked outside "Well, we can go to the piercing shop to get them, if you want?" "Really?! Yes, let's do that! When?" "Maybe tomorrow? We could search your parents after that?" "That's a great idea!" I said as I noticed our glasses were both empty now. I looked to the clock and it was already
10 o'clock. "It's a little bit late," I said to him as he nodded "Do you already have a place to sleep?" He said kindly "Yes. The break and breakfast," I said as we both stood up "Ah, okay. I'll bring you home." He said as he payed "Well, you can't call it home," he gave me a grin "Why are you paying," I grabbed some money out of my bag and I gave it to him "No," he gave it back "It's alright." We walked slowly into the direction of the B&B when I thought of the answers he gave me on my questions "So, are you still going to answer me?" I said as we both stopped under a light that was standing on the street "Okay," he said like he was doubting "But first I have a few questions for you.." "Okay." "Have you ever had the feeling you were different than other people?" He leaned against the lamp. I felt goosebumps. How could he know this? I nodded "Can you give me a few examples?" "Why?" I said "Just do it, please." He seriously said waiting for me to answer "When I was little I could predict things," he nodded "Go on.." "I could also talk t-" a few people walked along us so I was quiet for a minute until they were gone "I could talk to animals or I could feel if someone was sick, you know, that kind of things," he looked at me with a very penetrating expression. He came very close to me and whispered "I have a secret and I think it's also very interesting for you," his voice was even deeper and I wanted to know it so badly. He looked me into my eyes "I kn-" he just wanted to tell everything, but he stopped talking and looked shocked to something behind me. The dark street had been covered in a little bit of mist. I turned around to see what he looked at and I saw a little light become closer. I turned back to hear what he had to say, but when I was in my normal position the boy was gone. Where did he go? I looked around but I couldn't see him anymore. Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder so I turned around. I saw an old man with a lantern in his hand looking at me. He had only one eye and said, with his raspy voice: "Hello, young lady. You shouldn't walk alone around this time, it could be dangerous..." With his one eye he looked at me very suspiciously. He was observing me from head to toe "Okay." I said as I was still wondering where Taehyung had gone "Have you seen a charismatic boy? Blonde hair, blue eyes?" "No," I said. Of course I had seen him, but he wouldn't had left out of nowhere. Maybe this man was an enemy "It's better if you don't have contact with him if you see him." He looked around like he was searching Taehyung "Thanks, I won't." The man and I stood there for a moment, really awkward. "Well," I said as I tried to walk away "I think I have to go now," I waved at him "Bye!" I walked away and heard him saying one more thing in the distance "And don't contact him, keep that in mind. He's dangerous!" Dangerous? The boy who had took me out and complimented me? The one who wanted to help me finding my parents? Why would he be dangerous? I was still wondering where he could have gone as I was almost at the Bed and Breakfast.
