The Babysitter (Haunted) (The Watty Awards 2012)

Surprise visitors

Yet another short horror story! I hope you enjoy it people. I was going to work on a full fledged romance right now but you guys keep asking for more horror :o :p I really hope you enjoy this :)

Lexie was super excited. She had just moved out of her parents home and had rented an apartment for herself. She had been low on budget but after hunting around she had finally found a cosy little apartment in a rundown building.

At first glance the shabby building was exactly the kind of place you would keep away from but after a while it kinda grew on you. Her best friend Gloria had helped her move al her stuff from her parent's home to her apartment and she had been grateful for that.

Her parents hadn't been exactly too thrilled with the idea of her moving out.

"Come on you can stay for another year!"

"No mom!"

"Honey we are more than happy to keep you here"

"Dad come on you need to accept that I have to move out of the house some day!"

"Fine" they both had reluctantly agreed.

Now as she sat on her bean chair sipping on an iced tea with her best friend Gloria and her boy friend Dylan she sighed in relief.

"Finally!" yelled Gloria.

"Yeah"

"To my new home" yelled Lexie holding up her glass.

"To us" yelled Dylan.

"TO friendship" yelled Gloria.

All three of them bursted out laughing. Soon Gloria left and Dylan and Lexie were alone. They moved into th bedroom and collapsed on the bed. 

"Ow my back hurts" said Lexie frowning a little.

"Mine too" said Dylan.

"Wanna take a hot bath?"

"Hell yeah" said Dylan grinning.

"Ok I'll go first and then you"

"Oh come on!" groaned Dylan.

"What?" asked Lexie innocently, "aren't you too tired for any activity?"

Without a word Dylan jumped up and grabbed Lexie and went into the bathroom. Soon they were having a 'hot' shower.

"Ok I am really tired now" said Lexie, "content but tired" she curled up on her side and promptly fell asleep. Dylan lay there looking at her for a long time and then kissed her forehead and went to sleep.

The next morning both of them woke up very late. Both of them had graduated and were supposed to start their jobs in a month. Till then they had decided to enjoy and make the most of it. They would spend time together, go for movies, catch up with friends. It didn't take a lot of time for Dylan to move in with her and share the burden of all the rent and bills.

One night as the two of them returned from an outing with friends they saw a strange man lurking near their building. They ignored it and quickly went up to their apartment.

"That guy looked shady" said Dylan as he undressed.

"Yeah but maybe he's just drunk. Hell he could be one of our neighbors!"

"True"

The cuddled up on the couch and were watching a horror movie together. There was a scary scene on and Lexie was clutching Dylan's arm really tightly. Dylan winced and tried easing out of her grasp. Just then the main protagonist of the movie was running away from a 'presence' and knocking on her neighbor's door, at the exact same time someone knocked loudly on Lexie's door.
