The Artist and His Muse.
Raj Malhotra was a well know artist. His sculptures were hailed by many as a genius, one of his kind. His sculptures had a life like quality. They looked so real one had to touch them to make sure they weren’t breathing. People from all over the world ordered custom made sculptures. But there was something very queer about these sculptures. Yes, something very queer indeed. All of his sculptures had a dark quality to it. All of them were made for a dark purpose.
Raj delved in dark arts. It was a well known fact, dismissed by many. His sculptures were used in dark rituals and cults all over the world/. People from across the globe asked him to make different statues and Raj obliged.
It was the dark arts that had made him rich and famous and filthy rich. It was the satan he worshipped. He had made a lot of beautiful statues in his time but his most memorable one was the one he had made for his best friend.
Raj’s life had been perfect until one fateful day he fell in love. He had got a call from his best friend Karan who was back from his trip.
“Hello?”
“Raj!”
“Shivam! How are you? Are you back from Europe?”
“Yes I am and I have a surprise for you my friend”
“What is it?”
“Wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you would it?”
“No indeed! When are we meeting then?”
“Prepare a feast my friend I am coming to meet you for lunch”
Raj ordered his cooks to prepare a fabulous meal. The cook came up with a four course meal worthy of a seven star restaurant. An hour before his friend to come Raj went to freshen up for he was grimy with clay as he had been working on a new project for a client.
As soon as Raj changed into fresh clothes his bell rang. He continued to brush his black hair, knowing that his domestic help would answer. He then sprayed his favourite perfume and walked down to the lounge where his friend was waiting. His friend’s back was to him and he was standing with his arm around a girl’s waist.
“Shivam?”
“Raj!”
A very happy looking Shivam turned around and hurried to greet his friend. Raj had never seen his friend so happy. But what caught his attention more than his happy friend was his friend’s companion. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid his eyes on. She also seemed extremely familiar.
“Raj meet my wife Maria”
“Your wife!”
“Yeah I met her in Europe and bam! It was love at first sight” said Shivam grinning like a fool.
“Oh wow” said Raj.
“Hi Maria” he stepped and kissed her on her cheek, his lips lingering a tad bit longer than they should. Shivam was oblivious to his friend’s fascination with his wife.
“Hi Raj, nice to meet you” replied Maria with a glint in her eye. It was as if she was amused by a joke only she knew about.
Soon they sat for lunch and Shivam was talking about his Europe trip and his whirlwind romance with his wife. Raj couldn’t help but feel envious. He wanted Maria! As soon as the thought crossed his mind he felt ashamed. Suddenly he felt really uncomfortable. He wanted to get back to his statues.
