"Look, I'm sorry." Gouenji calmly said, "I shouldn't have snapped like that." He decided to stay quiet since judging from her mood, it could add fuel to the fire and everything could be ruined for good.

"If there's a problem, tell me and we can think about a solution together." Kira had now calmed down too. She came closer and took his hand in hers as she spoke.

"I will." He smiled.

"I'm sorry too." She said, placing a quick kiss on his lips and walked away.

After dinner, as they did the dishes together, Kira began a discussion,

"I think we should make something for our neighbor in return."

"We didn't even eat it." Gouenji made a deadpanned response.

"But that doesn't mean we shouldn't return the nice gesture!" Kira exclaimed, "As much as I don't like socialising there are some things you just have to do."

"Why?" Gouenji seemed tired of this discussion.

"Because it's nice." She turned to him as she handed over the last plate for him to wipe it dry and set it on the rack.

"Fine." He exhaled in defeat, "Let's just do it right now and get it over with."

"Aren't you sleepy?" She asked.

"No, I'm fine. Are you?"

"Nope. Me neither. We're going to be a couple of night owls today." Kira declared to which Gouenji responded with nothing but a fed-up stare.

"Hmm... now, what should we make?" Kira said, her index finger against her cheek.

"It's not rocket science. Just pick anything." Gouenji chimed in when he saw Kira actually slipping into deep thought over it.

"Shhh... either help me or let me focus." Kira responded in a serious tone, raising her index finger in front of his face but without turning to face him.

"May I remind you she brought "noodle" soup which could have killed us?" He commented as he leaned against the countertop watching Kira think, now with amusement.

"If I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it perfectly." Kira was still very serious.

"I don't think this is going to get you crowned as the best neighbor ever. I think that ship sailed long ago when your first instinct on seeing them was to run." He chuckled as he finished the sentence.

Kira glared at him in response, "As if you're any better! Remind me the last time you had a conversation with any of these people." She retorted.

"Point." Gouenji replied with amusement and silence returned for a while.

Suddenly, Kira turned to him, "You tell me, what do I make best?"

"Oh shit! Here we go. This is what happens when a vampire has to deal with human food. Now what do I tell her?" Gouenji started glancing left and right, avoiding eye-contact as Kira stared at him eagerly. He thought for a couple of seconds, time running out rapidly as Kira curiously awaited an answer. His eyes lit up as he finally figured what to say.

"I can tell you've thought of something." Kira said with excitement, "Now tell me quickly what is it?"

"Everything you make is so amazing, it's hard to pick one." Gouenji mentally patted his back for coming up with this vague but perfectly safe answer.

"You're a great help today." Kira said in sarcasm and with annoyance, "But also, thank you." Her expression changed from annoyance to blush the very next second.
