I awoke in the closet, and the door was open. Juniper was waiting beside me. I guess mom had some sympathy after all. I got up, and scratched Junipers stomach. My head felt like rocks were hitting it, and I felt horrible. At least mom didn't kill me. Juniper licked my nose, and then I tapped her mouth with my hand. She started barking, almost like she was trying to communicate.

That dog always had something to say. She would come up to you at the most random of times barking her head off. It was funny, especially when you'd treat her like a human back. I walked out of the closet, and started to walk out the door. It was freezing cold. I went back to the closet, and grabbed my winter stuff.

It was a thick jacket that went down to my knees, and a white beanie. I picked up Juniper, and headed off to my lake. I needed a name for it. I'd come up with that later. The road i walked on was hard, and cold. Juniper would pick up her feet while she was walking, and start hopping around.

I picked her up, and came up to the forest. The ground was warm here, so i set Juniper down. We entered the forest, and walked along. I heard a branch snapping every now and then, but I wrote it off as a squirrel, or raccoon.

As I neared to the entrance to the lake, Juniper started to growl. I picked her up, and started to try and calm her down. She didn't growl much, but when she did it was targeted at Mother. "Hey, hey it's okay..." I softly whispered to her.

She didn't calm down, but I headed to the lake anyway. It was warm there, like super warm. I took off my jacket and hat, and set it down. Juniper calmed. The sun was shining, even though at the house it wasn't. It was almost magic.

Juniper barked at me, and did it repeatedly. "Hey, whatcha' trying to say Junip?" I asked her, grabbing her head and pulling it close to mine. She rubbed her nose against mine, which made me laugh.

She ran towards the lake, and jumped in. She did twirls, spins, and other moves a dog should not be doing. She made me smile. She shook off, and came running towards me. She looked weird when she was running while wet.

Her fur pulled back, making her seem skinny. Funny how in animals being skinny is sick and abusive, but in humans it's beautiful. She grabbed my sleeve, and pulled me towards our lake. "Okay, okay! Im coming Junip!" I laughed, patting her head. She dragged me into the lake, getting my clothes all wet. Almost exactly like yesterday, except this time we were going to avoid physco-mom.

It was peaceful. No one was here but us, and we could laugh, and I could pretend to talk to Juniper. She always was my friend i could turn to. I never had anyone, even when I went to public school. They all said rumours about me, and low and behold I began to believe them.

After awhile the rumours got terrible, and the abuse started kicking in. Kids beating me, saying hurtful words about me. Most of them only did it to be popular, or because their friends said to. It was super Funny how just because someone's friends say they don't like someone, that person will kill The "weird kid" mentally.

My anxiety got bad, and it was the kid's fault. They locked me in dark closets, and held my head underwater. I am now permanently terrified of dark, enclosed spaces, and taking showers or baths. All that started in first grade, and ended in 5th. 6-8th grade my mother homeschooled me. I'm in 9th grade now. I did two grades a year, because in my state when a teen finishes high school they can leave their parents house. I worked myself to panic attacks and stress to get away from my mother. That's when you know you failed as a parent.

I heard twigs breaking, and I was confused because we were in the water, and there was no twigs here. A person appeared, strutting over to the lake. I immediately recognised him as a person that used to bully me. He only did it because of his friends. He wasn't a main bully, he was one of the ones who rarely made fun of me.

I panicked, letting my anxiety take over. I ducked under water, and Juniper ran to our stuff, or that's what I thought she was doing. I swam deeper out into the lake, and went up for air. I was almost right by where that person sat, and he looked at me startled.

"Oh my god! Where'd you come from?!" He yelped, clearly  surprised. "I was here. My dogs here too." I replied smoothly, calming myself. I itched at my brain, trying to remember his name. I got it! His name was Dakota. "Oh. You look familiar. Did you go to GreenLand elementary school?" He asked, squinting his eyes at me.

I never understood why humans did that. That just blocks off your vision, having your eyes normal helps you see a lot better.

"Yes I did. Yesenia ring a bell to you dakota?" I exclaimed, swimming over
to the shore. Juniper ran over, and licked my face.

Dakota's face broke when I said that to him. It was the kind of break when your dog gets killed by a car, or you go to a funeral. I could tell by his eyes he was broke himself inside, and he looked at the lake. His golden yellow eyes glistened in the sunlight, making a warm glow to everything. He had black hair that stood up, with red dyed in. He had a few piercings, and a tank top and black, ripped skinny jeans. He looked like the guy you'd want to avoid in a dark alley.

"I'm Sorry." He whispered, and I knew he meant it.
