After a steamy hot shower and the cold gym air helping me dry off I jumped into my oversized nike sweats and a loose hoodie. I was greeted by the younger ones when i came out all jumping around and copying some of the moves i did in the match.
From the corner of my eye I saw Derrick holding a bag of mcdonald's and a large drink my mouth started to water I waved the kids by rushing over to him and stuffing the food inside my bag before my coach saw it.
I already knew Bitchney and her gym left when i got out the shower so the chance of her seeing me and Derrick together was slim to none. "I'm gonna kick your girlfriends ass just wait."
He smirked and we both turned to the exit. "I dunno your moves looked kinda basic," He chuckled lightly receiving a punch to the arm. "Im kidding I could tell you we're holding back."
"I had to, don't want their gym to know any of the moves i've been working on for the past year. My footwork was the only thing they saw thanks to the soccer team." I pressed the keys to my car and realized Derrick parked right next to me in his big ass tundra.
"I noticed don't worry to be honest what i've seen at brits gym isn't anything you should worry about." We both stood at the trucks of our cars and i quickly threw my stinky bag in the back.
"Ha! You admit i'm going to kick her ass. Literally." Kick boxing is the best type of boxing i know and i bless my dad for choosing it for me.
"Oh yeah your mom stopped me before i left and asked you to grab food for easter at the beach." He pressed the unlock button on his car making it beep.
"Cool so see you tomorrow?" It was starting to get awkward all I wanted to do was go home and sit in an a ice bath.
"No no I'll go with you meet you at the house." He smiled and jumped into his car making it roar and I got in myself making my car sound even louder.
He had always been a slow person so I reversed-quickly and went on my way home. Multiple times we stopped at red lights next to each other and acted like we were gonna rave. Each time it was me who went first or him. It was back and forth for four lights before he got behind me so we could enter the neighborhood.
My eyes landed on the thirty million cars parked in front of my house and even on the grass. Not literally thirty cars but I knew that inside would be hectic.
Derrick honked and signaled for me to pull into his driveway. We both parked and walked toward my house where I could already hear all the commotion of my big family.
The second the door opened three of my little cousins came running at my legs and screaming my name. I managed to pick two up and have the other crawl up my back.
Derrick laughed softly behind me and we both walked deeper into the house filled with my mom and dads brothers and sisters who were my very crazy uncle and aunts. My eyes immediately searched for my brother who only ever visits for holidays.
"Hey mom is Carson here?" I stepped into the kitchen finding my mom and both my grandmas. I hugged and kissed the three of them awaiting my answer.
"In the back with the rest of your older cousins," She smiled and grabbed my arm as I began to walk out. Did you do what I told Derrick?"
"No I just finished my match mom. Let me change and then i'll go." I reassured here and motioned Derrick to go to the back with me.
If you went in order of cousins older than 15 there is only 8 of us, me being the youngest. I saw Carson's messy brown hair, something we shared strongly. My first thought was to go for the kill and that's exactly what i did.
Carson who also trained as a kick boxer before college know exactly what to do once i wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I'm not doing it but only because I'm aware of you're fight in two weeks." He chuckled and i softly let go to get a proper hug from him.
"Now what about us?" I turned and saw Ty with his two older brothers. As you can tell Indont have a lot of female cousins except for Cam who was 9 years older than me and the oldest of all of us.
I gave Tim and Tanner hugs and punched Ty in his arm for eating my food last night. Tim was the opposite of Ty and Tanner was a mixture of both of them. They were my uncle from my dads side Theo.
As you can see my family has an obsession with continuing the name game with their kids. Our family followed with Cs. Carmen, Carson, Carter and my dad Tate. My uncle Theodore followed suit with his three sons and their newest edition Talia.
I looked towards Derrick who seemed out of place so i quickly gave him a guide as to who was who since the last time he saw probably half of these faces was 6 years ago.
Carson stuck his head in our conversation as I explained Kendra who unlike the rest of our big family was the only child of my moms sister Caitlyn. The only cousins were Jamey and Jake the first set of twins ever in our family, Grandma Mabel said it was because of Jordan my uncle Caden's wife.
👼🏻
"Pause, so how many families are here today?" Derrick covered my mouth when I mentioned Aunt Jordan.
"There's Morris where me and Carson fall under, then there's Adams which are my mom and her sister who changed her last name to Bentley so there's another one. Then if you want you can add Finns family my aunt Andreas brother and their son Ethan."
"I've never been so overwhelmed with family this never happens in the Jones'." He laughed and then heard my moms calls.
My cousins immediately pointed and laughed. Being the oldest but youngest meant you were picked on the most by the aunts and uncles. I flicked all of them off lowkey and went inside I gave my mom "the look" telling her I was going to get dressed and do what she asked and as we walked through the living room I subtlety pointed out my aunts and uncles to Derrick so he would get a better understanding.
It was starting to feel more comfortable around the two of us which meant something good to me.
