Carter Morris
I got upstairs and started making Ramen noddles. Easiest thing I can make.
"Hey Car, nice to see you noticed me," I turned to the voice and saw Ty in his boxers eating my fruity pebbles.
"What are you eating?" I asked.
"Fruity Pebbles, why?" He mumbled with a mouth full of cereal.
"Where'd you get it?" He pointed to the cabinet with the words CARTERS FOOD ONLY! DON'T TOUCH! in sharpie.
"Its say Carters food only don't touch. So Ty my beloved cousin, why are you eating my pebbles when they belong in there?"
He swallowed his food and put his bowl down, "Mom said I could eat whatever I want, except.....that cabinet." He realized the cabinet said something and jumped off the counter and up the stairs, with me running after him.
"I'M SORRY I DIDN'T KNOW!" He screamed throughout the hallway.
"DOUBLE CHECK SOMETHING BEFORE YOU DO IT!" I shouted. When Ty ran into my moms room. Bad idea its 8 shes watching her shows and you never interrupt her when shes watching her shows.
I ran back downstairs and ran right into Derrick. I fell on top him while he fell onto the wood floor.
"Did you see a ghost or something?" He grumbled.
"No, but I'm not protecting Ty after his attack from my mom," I said and got up, giving Derrick a hand.
He took my hand and got up, pretty fast and pinning me on the wall. Whoa Derrick. We're only JUST friends.
"You always smell so good," he blurted. After realizing his words, his cheeks went a red.
"Well it's your present that always makes me smell good." I stated.
Derrick always sent me a bottle of Hollister perfume on my birthday. I wouldn't honestly care about in front of my parents but when I was in my room. I was in love with it.
"Car? You alright." Derrick whispered.
"Yeah just thinking."
"You think a lot. What's in that mind of yours?" he asked. And rested his head on mine.
"Boxing. Food. The past I had with you." I mumbled the last part. But he probably heard when I felt him tense.
"I do the same, Car. I'm an ass for everything." he whispered.
You had to bring it up. By the look of his face he regrets saying that. And backs away. I laugh to myself and pull him into a hug.
"I know you are," I smirked. He chuckled and squeezed me, spinning us as well.
"TY KAYDEN WEBBER!" My mother screamed loudly, making Derrick jump and fall, luckily he was my soft landing.
"Is that what made you run into me?" He asked.
"Mhhm. How about we just drive somewhere for food?"
"Yeah. Lets go to downtown." He answered excitedly, as I stood up and walked to the door. "What? No help!" He grumbled.
"Not after what happened before," His face went pale, as his face made an 'o' expression. He lifted himself up and we both walked to the car. My moms yelling was very loud and it amused me because Ty was the one being yelled at.
"Amused to see your cousin in trouble, eh?" I looked at Derrick and he too looked amused.
"Yeah but why do you look amused?"
"Nothing. Lets just go before she turns on someone else." I nodded in agreement and we both entered my car.
"I see you got your dream car too."
"All thanks to dad. He had already bought my car. He made it so I had the newest version. Too bad he couldn't see my reaction."
"You know he saw it."
"You sound like those boy best friends in books that are like hes in your heart or hes up their watching you. Please don't be that boy best friend. It ruins your look."
"Being a boxer ruins your look!" He defended.
"Says the one going out with one." I smirked and he sighed in agreement and looked out the window.
"Lighten up Derrick! I was playing, no matter how much I want to break her nose." He laughed at the comment.
"I never knew downtown was so far,"
"Sees how much you go out and live. Downtown is where cool things are"
"Downtown is the next county!" He exclaimed with his hands.
"Downtown sounds cooler and like this damn town has a life."
"Fine whatever you say." We remained silent. It took about another 15 minutes to get to Long Beach.
"In and Out really? There's one in Torrance."
"Have you had this In and Out?"
"No, I go to the one where I live!"
"You sir need to get out and live." I turned the car off and jogged inside, the smell was amazing and I could see Josh at the counter.
"Was sup Carter! Long time no see!" I smiled and Derrick stood behind me.
"How many times have you been here?"
"So many times I don't ever go to In-out back home." I walked to the counter and Derrick decided on picking a booth.
"Who's your little boyfriend Car? Thought you were in love with your best friend." Josh eyed Derrick while he just looked at his phone.
"That is my best friend."
"Well then I thought you hated him." He lifted his eyebrows in amusement.
"We got over some things, and left my house. You know Mom, shes always yelling but this time it was at my cousin. You'll meet him soon."
"Alright...What can I get you? And him?" Derrick was now behind me and Josh waited for one of us to speak.
"The usual. Could you add more fries, for later." I piped in and walked to my table and waited for Derrick. He stayed over there a little while and it looked like him and Josh were talking, I stood up to walk over there but Derrick turned around and walked towards the table.
"What was that about?"
"I cant talk to the cashier about a special order. Who knew you were this protective." I glared at him then shrugged.
"Don't get on his bad side hes in a gang." I looked at my phone so he couldn't tell I was lying.
I took a glance at him and he was staring right into my soul. "Do I have something on my face?"
"Not yet." His hand had a bottle of ketchup in it and mustard in the other.
"Spray me and I'll make sure your girlfriend cant walk and make her flat chested." I growled, he smirked and put the bottles down.
"I will avenge you." He said all majestic like and we burst into laughter getting a couple stares from workers and costumers.
And that's how I knew I had my best friend back, only if we could keep it likes this...
