I wasn't allowed back to camp after that meeting.
Paul
My parents came over another time, and of course Grover's here. He's been staying with us, which isn't a problem. He's nice.
But Sally and my mom went to the store. So it's us three guys. My dad wasn't having a very good day, apparently. It kind of showed when Percy went to make himself a snack. He was making ramen.
"What are you-" of course, dad is still big on guys don't cook.
"Just let him make himself a snack." I insisted, which was a mistake.
Suddenly, he backhanded me. I didn't even realize it until it happened. So much for Percy chewing him out.
"I didn't ask you," he reminded me where I stood with him. "It's bad enough you're raising a pansy for a child, don't speak out of place."
Before I could respond, Grover's head turned at the insult to his boyfriend. But Percy wasn't taking t.
"I'm sorry." Percy remarked. "Would you mind repeating that."
"What?" Dad asked him, standing his ground. "Paul knows the rules. It's bad enough he's raising you as a pansy."
Percy kind of had the look where you knew he was going to have an attitude.
Dad didn't like that. And he walked on a thin ass line when he went over and grabbed Percy's shoulder while he was cutting cheese because he was probably going to eat it. He had a sharp knife in his hand and not a fucking care about murder.
My father pulls on Percy's shoulder and then him around in attempt to probably slap him or something. And gods, that didn't last long.
Percy pins him against the wall with a knife in his hand, holding it right around my dad's chest. And my dad thought that this was the time to puff out his chest. Dumbass.
"You're just a kid." Dad insists, which kind of pushed a button because Percy really wasn't ever a kid when I knew him. "What are you going to do? Get separated from Mommy and Paul? Live on the streets? You wouldn't last a week, kid."
"Do you really think I care enough about what happens to me that I won't hurt you?" Percy questioned my dad's impression of him. "I warned you the last time you were here. You're lucky I have some morals, otherwise I'd take this knife, and slit your throat with it."
"A pansy like you?"
Percy must've put some pressure against that knife or pressed a pressure point or something, because suddenly Dad was apologizing and insisting he wouldn't do anything and I've never seen that done.
Mom and Sally got back a little while later, Percy and Grover we're in the living room. And Dad was talking to my room.
"Why are you being so cautious around Percy?" My mom asked, noticing how he was almost avoiding him. "He's a kid, mostly. And plus, it's rude."
"I kind of offended him," Dad explained to my mother, glancing over at Percy. "He asked me to repeat myself and I did. He kind of got an attitude and I went to set him straight. Raised my hand and he shoved me against the wall and threatened that if I touched anyone while he was around he would kill me."
"He's a kid."
"He's not afraid to go to jail," he kind of put it in perspective for her. "I don't know his dad, and after that, I don't think I want to. There's no way he learned that from Sally or Paul."
Say the devil's name and he will appear. We got a knock on the door and for whatever reason, my mom answered it. She was close.
I almost had an aneurysm. Percy was going to have a fucking heart attack or something. I mean, all of us we're. Dad wasn't. He was the only one that didn't know him.
