Chapter Nine

Percy

Waiting on our main course, we started to talk about older stuff. Like when we had met and even before then. Because we never talked about that much beforehand.

"I mean," Grover told me as I leaned forward, listening to what he had to say. "Outside of what happened recruiting Annabeth, Thalia, and Luke, my life wasn't that exciting. I have siblings, they moved our when I was younger. My mom died in childbirth, and my dad left to find Pan. After Dad left, my siblings did. They call every few years. But yeah. Life wasn't that interesting. Your mom was married before Paul, right?"

"Yeah," I confirmed for him. "To Gabe. You might've met him once, but I don't know. He died during our first summer. He was kind of an asshole. To both my mom and I. Mom only married him so I wouldn't be attacked by monsters as a kid. And I was anyways. Not often. But like I had killed a snake once in like preschool. A cyclopes once stalked me.  Stuff like that. Gabe made life... Not better. We didn't get along. Then again, I also had no friends up until the sixth grade. But yeah. I got expelled a lot. Those are always fun stories."

"This is why you come off as a trouble maker, Percy." Grover pointed out to me, and I couldn't deny it.

The meal was amazing, so was dessert, and by the time that was over we had to head bad. Sadly. But it was late, almost 9. Which isn't like time for bed, but time to wind down.

We got back around 9:30, and as Grover took a shower, I took the chance to write down my log for the day.

Today was pretty fucking amazing. I haven't been genuinely happy before, but maybe this will help. I really hope it does, because I was in a really good mood tonight.
I found out for sure what Grover think of me, so I can stop freaking about that. It was uncertain last night, but today I found out that he somehow returns the feelings (why? nobody knows) of liking me. We had an intense slapjack game which started it and that was our first kiss. From there he asked me out to dinner and yeah.
I went out on a date tonight. With a guy. But not just any guy, I went on a date with Grover Underwood.
I can't wait for the next one.

Smiling, I got ready for bed. When I was dressed, Grover had snuck up behind me and grabbed me around my waist, making me jump.

After a bit of fun, both of us fell asleep in his bedroom. Both of us half naked.

It was fun, okay?

Nico

That Sunday morning Jason convinced me to go and tell Percy about my crush on him. I don't know he got me to do it. But he even walked me to Grover's little home. Waited outside.

So I got in, and noticed that the pull out bed was empty. But I didn't see them, so I walked around his place until uh... I found them.

In Grover's room. Asleep.

They were shirtless, that's for sure. But I don't know if they were naked, and I didn't want to find out. So I hauled ass out of there.

"Dude!" Jason remarked. "What happened?"

"You don't... You don't want to know."

"But I do want to know."

"But it's none of your business."

"Fair enough."

Percy

We we're woken up by somebody knocking on Grover's bedroom door, which caught both of us by surprise and we fell on the floor. I stayed there as Grover got up. Threw on his clothes and answered the door. It had been a few people. Annabeth being one of them.

Silently, I rolled under the bed. I'm dead if she finds me in here. Dating or not. Mainly because it would prove her point (not really, but with how she would see it, it would) of me being gay and also a cheater. Thalia was there, too.

"Annabeth, why are you awake this early?" Grover questioned. "You're a on vacation here."

"Because Chiron wanted to talk with me." She explained to my... I'm not even going to try to put a label on what Grover is. "But do you know where Percy is? He's never up this early, much less packed and ready to go. It's that weekend, right? He's here?"

"Oh, yeah!" Grover had to make up something on the fly. "Um, he's here. Just not like here in my room. He must be awake if he's not on the pull out couch. A nightmare, maybe? He could've gone for a walk."

"Are you sure?"

My anxiety sky rocketed as I heard Thalia walk around the room and make sure he wasn't lying. She assumed I couldn't fit under the bed, so I wasn't found.

Just kidding, I'm not that lucky.

Annabeth went to look around his place a bit more outside when Thalia walked around the bed. And it wasn't obvious. But she stepped on the edge of the blanket.

Then proceeded to notice that it came from under the bed.

Thalia literally pulled me out from under the bed.

"I thought that thud sounded a little too hard for Grover being alone." The daughter of Zeus told me. "Why are you under the bed?"

"I uh... Fell." I was honest there. "And rolled. I don't know. I wasn't expecting to be woken up this early."

She shrugged.

"Fair enough." Thanks reasoned as she glanced at the clock. "I'll just tell her that you had to go get something from the city. Because she will kill one, if not both of you, if she sees this. You do realize how bad this looks, right?"

"That was the point of a locked door and closed blinds, so yes. Thank you."

"Yeah, whatever," she said as she started to walk over. "Just don't get an STD."

You know how they have those instant potatoes?

Yeah, I was an instant tomato after she said that. And I'm pretty sure Grover was, too.

Either way we fell back asleep, not expecting our lock to be picked.

Leo

I had an urgent question, okay? He didn't show to breakfast, so I didn't have much of a choice.

Wasn't expecting to get gay porn out of picking a lock.

Especially Grover's lock.

And I mean, it wasn't like they were having sex. So it wasn't actually porn. But they were sleeping together and the rumors were spreading. That they're butt buddies.

Oh, yeah. That started this morning. Jason actually started that one.

It spread like wild fire.

Of course, when I heard that, I thought it was kind of cute. That was something that, as soon as I saw them together, I thought that they should've been together over Percy and Annabeth.

You can't tell me that Percy and Annabeth weren't bad. Annabeth belittled him so much, I felt bad for the guy. Nobody seemed to care. When I asked Nico about it when they had been in Tartarus, he insisted that they've always been like that. Annabeth is always right, even if she's not, and Percy's the dumb one. He's always wrong.

I just... I felt bad. He deserved better, you know? Percy's a good dude.

I actually told Percy that once. As a joke, sorry of. Aid that they'd be cute and he just had an awkward, almost nervous laugh before just saying yeah, looking away.

Fun fact: the question could wait as I got a photo (whoops) and went to find Frank and Jason. We all bet on this a year ago. Jason said Percy and Annabeth would be like the perfect couple and live happily ever after. Be engaged by now. Frank said they'd either fight a lot or be broken up by the time they're 18. I said they'd be totally broken up and Percy would've moved on to a guy by the time he was 18.

Jason already lost. This was looking pretty good for Frank.

But I won.

So yeah, I told them. I didn't think it would be a big deal to Percy or Grover.

It was a big deal.
