in this story, finn and jack are two 18 year olds living in Chicago. the characters play important roles in the story and you will get to know them just as well as finn and jack. slow updates, because it takes me longer to make sure everyone gets to speak. lowercase intended. harsh language.

caleb and sadie's feet hitting the carpeted stairs began to fade from my mind.

i sat glumly in sophia's living room that was at the top of the stairs. there was a flat screen tv in front of the couch i sat on with gaten and millie. noah sat on the rug in front playing mario kart.

of course i didn't pay any attention anymore,
i zoned everything out.

that girl. she'll be the death of me.

i wondered how i would meet her. i read about other cities having timers counting down the moment, some had matching tattoos, and others just felt happiness for the first time. i wondered what she was thinking of right now.

i lost my trail of thoughts when gaten was nudging me to scoot over. "guys, i need to fix this," i announced.

noah paused his game and looked back at me. "fix what?"

"fix being alone!" i cried aloud.

"whoa whoa there big guy," millie said.

"yeah, chill out finn. you blew up in the matter of four seconds," caleb stated.

"i'm alone! you guys all have found your soulmates. what if mine is dead?"

gaten laughed. "won't you know if they died?"

"i don't think so," noah replied.

"that doesn't matter. the chances of them being dead aren't too high, finn," sadie informed me.

i chuckled at at her words. "them? this girl is gonna be some place far because i have gone 18 years without finding her."

"you don't know that," millie replied.

"know what?"

"that it's a girl," gaten finished.

i scoffed. "of course it's a girl. have you ever heard of two guys as soulmates?" they all shrugged.

"anyways," i continued. "do you guys wanna start going on adventures to look for her?"

"finn, i'm going to be honest. we should just go out as friends and not just designated to find your soulmate. we would be happy to help, but i don't want this to be all you think about, ya know?" noah said.

"i agree. i really want you to find this person, but i don't want this to be all we talk about," millie agreed.

they nodded their heads, earning a sigh from me.

"alright. what do you guys wanna do?" noah asked.

sadie grinned and whispered into caleb's ear, spreading her grin to him.
