Eddie walked into his first day of kindergarten, he was especially nervous. Today was the first day he was out of his moms sight for more than 2 minutes.

As she dropped him off and he got his cubby and stuff, he began to get nervous looking at the other kids.

He saw one little boy in the corner, with marker all over his hands. He slowly approached him, unsure of what to do.

"Hell-" Eddie started but quickly got interrupted when the small boy said

"Would you help me build a block castle?" He asked with a grin on his face.

"Sure!" Eddie said with a smile of relife as they headed over to a corner of the room with the block bin.

"Your names Eddie right?"

"Yeah"

As small Eddie was color coordinating the blocks extra carefully, Richie was stacking multiple colors into one big tower. For the first time Eddie was amazed instead of disgusted at the unorganized blob.

As Eddie was observing it, Richie knocked it over leaving all of the bricks scattered on the floor.

Eddie prepared for Richie to begin to cry because he would if his amazing tower got knocked over. But instead.. he just heard a cluster of laughs from the small boy in chunky glasses. His laugh was so contagious to Eddie.

Suddenly Richie stood and up said

"Hey Eddie stand up, I want to try something."

So Eddie cautiously stood up and Richie grabbed eddies hand.

Eddie started getting butterflies in his stomach and his heart started beating 20x faster. Now Eddie at this age didn't know the difference between gay and straight, so he just thought he had a normal crush.. until the teacher started yelling at them.

"Richie! Eddie! Let go of each others hands now! You don't want to be queers now do you?" Eddie started crying and Richie saw this so he held on tighter to eddies hand and blew a raspberry in the teachers direction (which to a 5 year old was like flipping someone off) ending with them both running away hand in hand.

They hid behind some bushes waiting and giggling.

"Boy! That was fun!" Exclaimed small Eddie.

"I know Eds! It sure was"

"Don't call me that!" Yelled small Eddie.

And he never did quite stop.
