chapter eleven
jack to the rescue

Sadie was walking beside Jack in the hallway at school the next day. She had her hands in her pockets and her head hung.

"Are you okay?" Jack asks suddenly

Sadie shrugs.

"You can tell me." Jack says

Sadie looks up to her friend. "Millie and I had a huge fight and I feel really bad about it now."

"What was the fight about?" Jack asks

"Boys. Finn and Caleb to be specific. Caleb told me that he likes Millie and I got super mad so I hung out with Finn to get back at Millie, it was stupid." Sadie sighs

Jack rubs her back comforting her. "Do really think Caleb actually likes Millie?"

Sadie looks at Jack confused. "Yes, he said so himself."

"I'm no relationship expert but maybe he was just saying that to see how you reacted... I think he likes you." Jack says

"What? Are you sure?" Sadie asks

Jack shrugs. "I don't know, but maybe you should talk to him and find out. Then apologize to Millie."

Sadie nods. "Okay, see you around Jack." Sadie runs away looking for Caleb. She sees him heading into the boys restroom but she catches him just in time.

"Caleb! I need to talk to you." Sadie says grabbing his arm.

"About what?" Caleb says

"Jack... H-He told me to ask you if you really did like Millie or if you were just lying." Sadie says nervously

Caleb grins and nods.

"Is... That a yes to lying or to liking Mill-?" Sadie gets cut off by a pair of chapped lips softly attaching with hers. He pulls away smiling.

"I was lying Sadie, I like you. I always have." Caleb smiles

"Really?" Sadie grins

Caleb nods.

"Aw shute. I'll see you later Caleb, I have to go talk to Millie." Sadie says breaking out of her trance of heart eyes towards Caleb.

"Alright bye."

Sadie finally arrives behind Millie in the school hall.

"Millie?" Sadie says tapping her shoulder softly.

Millie turns, her short hair falling in her face. Millie rolled her eyes immediately after she sees Sadie's face. Millie doesn't speak, instead she continues walking towards her first period class.

"Millie! I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have done what I did." Sadie apologizes

Millie stops and faces Sadie. "I don't want your stupid apology. So just keep it inside your hollow head." Millie says and stomps into her classroom.
