sunstroke

her love was like sunshine
a rainy day banished away
if her love washed over me once
i'd never feel anything but warmth
the chills never got me
i never shook
i never shivered
her joy was  like a million sweaters
wrapped around to hold me close
her devotion was sunstroke
a heat wave building up
into a crescendo
if her heat loomed over me once
my skin blistered
my lips cracked
her heat was like a desert sun
creating new ways to bring me pain
no sign of a winter showed
so i made my own relief
i trapped her out and
surrounded myself with
refreshing, gentle drafts
i vowed to never again endure
sunstroke
so i became a snowstorm
