Alone

A Story Of Stars

Space. A seemingly infinite aroma of colors lights, and darkness, an amazing concept that has seemingly perplexed the greatest minds in history. Why this is? Because the human mind is typically unaccepting of things we don't understand. First religion played in, saying that the many stars and lights were all "gods" simply to explain that which couldn't be, then science took over, and we started getting answers. But even human science left it completely unexplained. Still nothing about it "makes sense", but why? Because something as wonderful, as beautiful, as thought driving. Space, can never truly be perceived, it has to be experienced.

2107: Aboard the wreckage of the LIGHTSPEED 1

I always thought of alone being defined as, nobody in the room, no one present in that particular area. But what I go through now proves that definition wrong. I'm about 27 light years away from home, I haven't seen my family in twelve long years, and I am the only person out of three who made it through the accident.

And now here I sit, floating through the infinite abyss of space, with what is left of the ship that at one point, was my one and only dream to fly, but has become my living hell. And I can't leave, I can't run away, I can't seek help. I'm alone.

Some days I walk the halls, alone, infinitely with nothing but my thoughts, on what's left of my ship just wondering is this going to be the end of me? Is this how I'm destined to die? On the remains of my life's work scattered among the stars, floating through the ambient song of space.

2099: Aboard The Intact LIGHTSPEED 1

"Can you believe this?" Trista said as we looked through the window at the scenery of space. "I can't believe this is even real" She said.

Trista, she was probably the closest person to me, which is weird because this ship only has three people. She had brown hair, blue eyes that reminded me of space itself, she usually spent her time here, or in the greenhouse.

"Amazing isn't it?" I said

"It is." she says.

"Can you believe earth is orbiting one of those many stars, it seems impossible." I said

"That's hard to believe, even when I know it's true." She said

We were looking out a gigantic observatory window at the milky way galaxy, due to being in light speed we are only going to see it for an hour, we both took the opportunity. Our former galaxy, almost seemed like something you'd see right out of a movie. But it was all too real. And to me it's down right the most beautiful thing that I have ever seen, and will ever see. Its variety of colors, its explosion of light, and unbelievably, they were gigantic glowing gas giants, of all colors blue, red, yellow, orange, white.

We both began to realize that we probably had something to do right now. I got up said bye and headed out the room. I walked into my cluttered lab. I had desks covered with all kinds of stuff most of it useful some of it I just couldn't find a place to put it. The last thing I had been working on was an asteroid we picked up in Earth's orbit, it was glowing while we were in light speed so you could say it's important.

But that's not usually how things are around here, they aren't usually exciting. Sleep also is kind of a weird thing around here, it's harder to tell when it's night or day so usually we just go down for very long naps. I moved some stuff over and wrote down my log for today. We usually do them with the entire team on a recorder screen but this one is only me. I never really have anything important anymore. But it burns time and that's why I do anything here.
