SECTION THREE {Explorer}

The plant was covered in ocean but small valley islands, with beautiful greenery everywhere. I almost immediately knew how seasons worked here, unlike our earth there should only be two seasons, Summer and Winter. And it all depends on how close to the sun this planet was. And since it had the figure eight orbit, each season would last approximately a year. When the planet was orbiting a black hole it would be winter and darker, whenever when the planet orbited the sun it was summer.

My thinking was interrupted by the crash of the landing gear to the surface. I had landed. I grabbed the gear and hopped out of the lander capsule, the gravity was much lighter than earth's but not quite the moon's either. I read the oxygen meter It was good. It was good the whole planet had oxygen more than carbon dioxide, which is probably caused by all the greenery, but the thing about this planet was that it instead of giant continents had small islands, each about the size of New York.

But I saw smoke in the distance rising way above the horizon. What could that be? I ran back over to the lander and pulled a switch, the drivable rover popped out of the side, and fell to the ground and landed on its tires, I got up into the cockpit. I fired it up and then the whole rover came online there were three empty chairs, chairs in which I hope will be filled on my way back. I flicked on all terrain mode so when I have to cross water the wheels will shift and a propeller will depoy and Iĺl get across using that.

About three hours later I was approaching the large smoke. I arrived shortly after crossing two of the small islands. I looked around and found half of the decal by this point it said: ED1 which was the missing half of LIGHTSPEED 1. I found the old airlock. I grabbed the airlock door and started pulling it fell open with a loud crash. The flickering light around the destroyed chrome outline, it was funny because the whole ship looked like it did the first weeks of construction. The lights flickering gave me the most eerie feeling I had ever felt, there were parts and supplies everywhere, al the emergency medical kits were open. I had to climb underneath several airlock doors that were half closed before I was even half way through.

"Trista!" I yelled through the halls.

"Cameron?!?!" Trista yelled right back.

"In the command center!" Trista yelled.

I ran up and there she was, sitting there looking over Devan, He had a giant wound on the die of his suit.

"What the heck happened?!" I asked kinda panicked.

"When we crashed he got hit by debris, and when I brought him back half of the communications array antenna, punctured him in the stomach." Trista said.

"Oh god, I knew that whole thing was a bad idea. I have a medical supply crate in the lander come on!" I said.

I grabbed devan hurled him over my shoulder, and ran out to the rover and got him loaded him onto a chair. Put his seat belt on. I sat on the command chair Trista sat down got in her chair, and we drove off. But when I started the engine it wouldn't move, I tried three more times but it wouldn't start. I walked outside and saw the grass had wrapped itself around the rover. It had been less than an hour? How was that possible?

I started throwing stuff around in the back and found the emergency kit and threw it open. I grabbed the emergency knife and ran out. I cut it with the emergency knife and the got back in and hit the engine full blast and we started driving back.

We arrived about three hours later. And the lander wasn't where it was before.

"Wait where are we?" Trista said confused

"Im pretty positive I left it here...?" I said.

In its place was a giant bush. The hatch opened up and we all got out. Trista walked up pulled off a bunch of grass. There was the lander. What is wrong with the botanical life..? It's like we've been here for twelve years. I ran inside and found a box attached to the wall ripped off the release hatch and grabbed the knife out of it and just began hacking at the grass.

The sound of the blade slashing against the grass. It was like a sound I hadn't heard in years, like a sound that was almost sent from earth. I kept cutting. It probably took 30 minutes to cut down that much. We all climbed in. there were roots and grass shaving filling the innards of the ship itself. I sit down after telling everyone to take a set Trista was on the upper floor helping out devan. I flipped the ignition switch. Nothing, I flipped it again. Still nothing.

"Well I have good news, and I have bad news. The bad news is the igniter isn't activating. The good news, we have a full tank." I said.

"Well that makes sense this planet has a weather we have never seen before it -12 degrees celsius but it feels like 50 degrees fahrenheit." Said Deven

"Well we can still light it, but it has to manually." Said Trista.

"Yeah but a quick downside to that, whoever does is basically stranded until we can manage to actually land the station, or get the other lander working..."

"which can't be done under twelve days from now. And that's just the lander... The food supply in this thing is three days..." Said Deven

"But it's made for three people making nine days. So if we are talking about farming for whoever has to stay it would take like 2 days to have a solid farm. But then again we don't know anything about this planet." Said Trista.

"Then I will stay. You both have had your fair share of being stranded here now it's my turn." I said.

"Are you sure we were here for like a week, you are going to be here for a while while we get the ship operational..." Said Deven.

"Well, I'm just going to have to take my chances." I said.
