"Anyone in the Overtown area, we've got a noise complaint at 1224 NW 8th Ct. Neighbours called due to excessive shouting."

"10-4. 1504 on route to the sight," Lauren communicated back to the dispatchers, watching as Lucy flipped on the lights and sounded the siren. She stepped on the gas, causing the cruiser to move down the street faster.

"You should've let someone else get the call," Lucy said, turning down a smaller street. "Ally's going to kill you if you're late for dinner again."

"She'll understand," Lauren said with a shrug, inputting the address in the computer system to get a head start on the paperwork.

"Okay, and my wife?" Lucy questioned, looking at the woman beside her with a smirk.

"Sorry Sarah isn't as incredible as Ally," Lauren teased, making her partner flip her off before she turned down the street of the noise complaint.

"Fuck you, Jauregui."

"That's Hernandez-Jauregui," Lauren sassed before the cruiser came to a stop. "Let's get this sorted out as quickly as possible."

The two officers climbed from the vehicle, both adjusting their radios and holsters before approaching the run down blue house where two people were loudly screaming at each other.

Lucy knocked harshly on the door, though this didn't silence the people within.

"Police, open up," Lauren called out, hitting the door this time with her foot.

"You fucking – don't open the door!"

The door swung open, revealing a fairly young woman with disheveled hair and blood shot eyes.

The smells that followed her consisted of strong alcohol and a lingering marijuana stench.

"What?" The woman asked after a moment, leaning against the doorframe.

"We've received a noise complaint about this property. Your neighbours reported you both for the excessive shouting," Lucy said, glancing past the woman to see a man return from the hallway. He didn't look any better than the woman, and the way he swayed suggested he had more to drink than her.

"We'll keep it down," the woman said, ready to close the door.

Lauren, who had been trying to see as much of the entrance/living room as possible, spotted a small toy by the TV. Worried that there were kids inside, Lauren stuck her foot out to stop the door from closing.

"We need to look around," Lauren said, her tone leaving no room for argument.

"That's not happening," the woman said, trying to step in front of Lauren.

"Ma'am, I will not hesitate to put you and that man into handcuffs. Please, get out of my way."

"Who does this bitch think she is?!" The man at the back of the room finally spoke up. "Where's your warrant?"

Lauren froze, knowing very well that she needed a warrant to search the house, especially since there were no narcotics or illegal items out in the open for her to see.

"I thought so," the man slurred, seemingly proud of himself.

"Keep the noise down," Lucy said, knowing they couldn't do anything else. "Let's go Officer Jauregui."

Lauren followed Lucy off the property, returning to her seat in the cruiser.

"We need a warrant," Lauren said as Lucy climbed into the driver's seat.

"Why?"

"There was a child's toy by the TV. I'm not leaving until I know that there aren't any kids in that house," Lauren said, starting to file for the warrant.
