“Give me that gun.” Dianne held her breath for a couple of seconds there. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Monique’s pointing a gun at her, the weapon was hers. She had no time to think how Monique got it. She needed to calm her niece down.
Monique’s heart was thumping too hard not because she was nervous but because of the immense grudge she’s feeling. She wanted to release the bullet of the weapon in her hands. She wanted so badly to take away her aunt’s life, but more than that, she wanted to take revenge.
“Monique, darling, what’s the matter? Huh?” Dianne’s both hands were raised in front of her, doing their best to stop Monique.
“What’s the matter? You are asking me what the matter is?!” she shouted loud enough to shake Dianne’s stillness. Monique was shaking as well but for a different reason, an uncontrolled anger. “I know everything now. The memories came rushing that it frightened me a lot. It’s very frightening to know that I’m living with a demon, the demon who killed my parents.”
“What are you talking about? Have you taken your medicine?” Dianne asked trying really hard not to stutter.
“No! I’m not taking them for three months now and thanks to my instincts, I had them checked and discovered that they hinder me from remembering instead of helping me! And now, I remember what you did! All for wealth! You, demon! I am going to kill you!” she stepped forward.
Dianne stepped backward; her back touched the closed door. “You were just hallucinating, darling. It never happened. You know that I didn’t kill them. You know that I cannot do that.”
“I’m going to kill you!” Monique’s tears started falling out of the outburst of hatred inside her chest. It hurts physically but the emotional pain is too deep, too strong that in any moment, she could fire the gun. “I hate you! You ruined my life!”
“I did not. In fact, I raised you, I took care of you, I gave you everything.”
“No! You never did that! You actually took away everything to me.” The tears in her eyes were like waterfalls. Like her emotion, they’re starting to be out of control. “You deserve to die!” Once again, she moved forward.
The gun became just ten inches away from Dianne. She planned to snatch it from Monique but before she was able to make a move, the door was opened. Policemen came inside the room and arrested Dianne for murdering Monique’s parents. One of them took the gun from Monique.
Monique fell on her knees. Her crying became loud. The anger became too discernible but she knows deep in her heart that she cannot kill anyone. She had called the police beforehand. She was hoping to hear an explanation but she’s a fool to think that there’ll be a good one, and whether she admits it or not, one second there, she thought of pulling the trigger.
