hoseok sat with his back against the wall, staring up at the sky and enjoying the sunset. his arms wrapped possessively around yoongi who sat between his legs. he couldn't remember the last time he felt this content. the sunset was almost as beautiful as the boy in his arms making him smile happily to himself.

yoongi listened intently to hoseok's heart beat, the steady rhythm sending chills down his spine. he appreciated the warmth his body gave off as he watched sky fade from blue to orange the finally to black. he closed his eyes, feeling completely relaxed and happy. he was genuinely happy, an emotion he'd almost forgot existed.

the sun was now complete gone, darkness replacing the once cloudy blue sky but neither of them was worried, they were far to infatuated with each other to care about anything. yoongi searched for hoseok's hands that were wrapped around his waist and intertwined their fingers. he wanted to be as close to hoseok as possible, the boy made him feel safe and wanted; things he'd been desperate to feel his entire life.

"will you have to leave soon?" yoongi asked quietly, the idea of hoseok leaving making him extremely sad.
"mhm" hoseok replied, the thought upsetting him too.

yoongi tightened his grip on the younger boys fingers.
"do you have to?" yoongi whispered. he wasn't sure hoseok even heard.

the thought of hoseok leaving him and having to spend the night alone in the cold again almost brought tears to his eyes. he felt hoseok rest his chin on his shoulder, his breath tickling his air as he exhaled
"i can walk you home" he offered

home

the word didn't really mean anything to yoongi. he hadn't had a home since he was 14. even then, it never really felt like he belonged there. the word only reminded him of how lonely he was.

"i..." yoongi started, searching for a way to explain himself
"you don't need to do that"
"i want to" hoseok said softly

yoongi felt like crying. he'd felt far too many emotions today.

"you... you can't" he said, his voice cracking.
"why not?" hoseok asked. he sounded worried and that was exactly what yoongi didn't want.

"i..." he stuttered again. how do you explain that you don't have a home? to someone who lived with a happy, nuclear family? hoseok couldn't understand.

"yoongi" he said firmly "what's wrong? why can't i walk you home?"

yoongi felt his breath hitch but tried to keep all of his emotions out of his voice as he said
"you just can't" with as much conviction as he could muster (which wasn't much). still, he was met with a concerned
"why?"

he knew hoseok wasn't going to let this go. he sighed.

"i don't..." he gulped, trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall
"i don't live... at home" he eventually choked out

there was silence for a second before hoseok asked "what do you mean?"
"i don't live at my house. i don't have one. i don't live anywhere" he tried to explain

"what?" hoseok repositioned them so he could look at yoongi, who was doing everything he could to avoid eye contact.

"i don't live anywhere. i just..." he shrugged
"you're homeless?" hoseok asked. yoongi nodded, even though the word made him feel a little sick.

"yoongi..." hoseok's voice was sad and sympathetic
"it's not as bad as it sounds. i'm used to it, anyway" he said, trying to sound as flippant as possible. he'd never actually told anyone about this other than taehyung, who's home life was possible even worse than his, and it made him feel uncomfortable. vulnerable.

"that doesn't make it ok" hoseok furrowed his eyebrows "why didn't you tell me?"

"it's not like you can help" yoongi said quietly
hoseok paused. all this time yoongi had been on his own and he hadn't even known. every time he left yoongi to go back to his safe, warm house yoongi was left to spend the night out in the cold. guilt was an understatement, he felt physical pain at the thought.

"you're staying at my house tonight" he said, not leaving any room for yoongi to decline.
the black haired boy finally looked at him
"you don't-"
"if you think i'm going to let you sleep outside on your own then you're stupid. and wrong"

hoseok stood up, holding out a hand for yoongi who took it and pulled himself up.
"are you sure?"
"yes" hoseok said, not letting go of yoongi's hand and holding it tightly.

yoongi smiled as hoseok led them back to his house. he didn't know what he did to get so lucky, he didn't deserve somebody like hoseok but he didn't question it. hoseok was probably the best thing that had ever happened to him.

no, definitely the best thing.
