'victoria, wake up' richie whispered lovingly into my ears
we were lying in the meadows, still in each others arms
i remembered what he had said before as I felt the dried up tears on my cheeks
'do you want to go down to the river and watch the sunset?' he asked me
i nodded and we got up and walked back up to his bike
i held onto him and remembered what I had said to myself a while back,
and I didn't hold on tight, because I had already lost him
my mind went blank while we biked across the town of derry, people watching us from their cars or while they're out on walks with their dogs
and I didn't think of it
and for that matter, I didn't think about anything
not even richie,
not even richie
'okay, vic; we're here'
i looked down and nodded, not wanting to see his beautiful chocolate eyes in fear that they would make me cry again
he intertwined our fingers as we walked down to the shallow river
we hadn't been here together in forever
and we're not going to see each other in forever
ugh
ugh
ugh
'vic?'
'what? um, I mean yeah?'
'are you okay? you look worried'
'i'm fine'
he nodded his head, knowing I wasn't, but also knowing I would never admit it
'victoria, i'm so sorry. this wasn't my decision, and if it was, we'd stay here in each other's arms forever'
'but it's not' I whispered, not wanting to make myself cry again
'victoria, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me, and don't ever forget that'
i sniffled, not answering to his comment
richie was sitting down with his legs spread out and I was sitting in between them
he had me in his arms and it made me feel so safe and comfortable
then, with a small whisper, richie said,'please don't ever forget me'
i didn't answer, and then grabbed the hand that he had wrapped around my waist and kissed it
he kissed my forehead in return
