Chapter 5

Asami POV

I was scared, I didn't know how people would react me breaking up with mako, I walk in only to find most people staring at me, then I spot korra so I walk over to her 

"Hey korra, how did you sleep" I ask her, She turns towards me and she has a black eye

"How did that happen" I say touching it gently and she flinches

"I got in a cross fire of a fight, my wound hasn't opened up though so I'm ok" she says smiling at me 

"Good we should get some ice on that" I say as we walk to our next class 

"Nah I'm good don't worry" she says as a group of mako boys stopped us

"Hey Asami how are you dump Mako, he thought you loved him" one of them says 

"Your such a slut" another one says

"Yeah you were just using him " 

As they say those words they hit me like acid like my nightmare, suddenly one is knocked back by a gust of air and then another is tripped up by some lifted tiles which I'm sure we're normal just a couple of seconds ago, thank you avatar you kept your promise 

"If you knew what really happened you wouldn't be saying those things" Korra defends me 

"Ha the loser thinks she is strong" one of them says, suddenly Korra pushes him back into the lockers and she lifts him up by his jacket 

"Dare say one more bad word about Asami and I won't be the only person with a black eye today" she drops him and he runs away, I look at her in shock, she went out of her comfort zone to protect me

"Thank you" I say setting my hand on her shoulder and she looks up to me and smiles 

We walk into our next class together and we sit down, no one even dares to look at us 

"Hello class today, we are going to study the avatar" the teacher begins, suddenly korra tenses up and she pulls her sleeves over her hands

"As you know bending is illegal, the avatar can bend all four elements and the different branches inside those elements, such as metal bending, electricity" she continued and then I think about mako he can bend electricity, no stop that he isn't your friend anymore 

"The avatar is a fugitive, people argue that it's not fair for them to be fugitive because they weren't given a choice when they were born" I looked over to korra and I could see tears in her eyes

"Hey is everything ok" I whisper to her 

"Yeah I'm fine" 

"No your not what's wrong what did the avatar have to do with you" 

"I have history with them and I can't say I enjoy it" she says then the teacher disturbs us

"Girl anything you want to say to the class" she says 

"Actually yes there is Miss" I say and everyone's eyes go to me but I could feel korra's hand on top of mine and that gave me comfort 

"I have seen the avatar, I even have a video of them, in the video you can see the avatar defending themselves against some police men attacking" I say to the class and they stare at me in awe 

"Do you have this video" the teacher asks

"Yeah" suddenly I could feel korra gripping my hand harder "But I want to share it because I assume the avatar wants there life to be private don't you think and maybe some people in here are maybe scared of the truth that we may be wrong about benders" I finish and I could feel korra pulling away
