Lily awoke in the back of the coffee shop. The days began to seem darker than the ones before them. She pushed the thin blanket off her legs and stretched. Looking around the still dark, cold room. Standing, Lily wandered over to the fridge and took out the last plastic container of salad. She was running out of food.
The entire week, she had spent in the shop, debating on what to do. She had a job to do. Bring Dylan in for questioning. No questions asked. But how could she do that knowing something was off about him. How was it that one day he was asking her out, and the next day, he was trying to kill her.
Finishing her salad, Lily grabbed a backpack of food and water bottles and walked out the back exit door. It was time to leave the coffee shop. It was time to go get done what needed to be done. Bring in a killer. A monster. But that wasn't Dylan. Dylan wasn't a murderer! He wasn't a psychotic killer.
Her phone buzzed in her pocket. Lifting it out, Lily saw it was a text from an unknown number.
Unknown:
Come to the Westlian Dock. I have a shipment for you.
I thought hard. I hadn't been here long, but I knew that the Westlian Dock was a closed-off place. Abandoned since a shipwreck back in 1987. No one went there anymore. It was a nice beach I heard. But no one went there anymore. Not since the 'Government' took full control.
"Government." I rolled my eyes. Is that what Viper was going undercover as now? Government Agents? But who could have been the one to text me? I quickly texted back. Me:
What kind of shipment? I didn't order anything.
She waited. Nothing. Lily kept walking, wondering who could have found the number of the unregistered phone her Uncle Jack had given her. A sudden buzz made her jump.
Unknown:
Wear dark clothes and bring no one.
Lily was starting to get freaked out. The possible outcomes to this scenario numbered over hundreds. Could this be a viper agent? Marcus Houston? Jayden?
Dylan.......?
Or was it just a spam. She weighed her choices. Her uncle could have just texted her though........ Lily decided to show up.
'What harm could it do?' She thought, placing her phone in her pocket once again. Racking her brain for ideas, she decided to show up. But not unarmed. All the weapons she brought were back at the apartment. Where Ethan was. she had promised him not to ever show up again.....But....
She had to. She had promised. But this was important. Something had to be done. Lily broke out into a jog to the apartment. Reaching the building, Lily's phone started ringing. As she dashed up the stairs, she whipped out her cell, and read the contact ID. Dylan. Was this his good day? Was it not?
She hadn't been counting. If Lily was being honest, she'd all but given up on him. But there was still something in the back of her mind nagging at her, telling her that it was worth it. The He was worth it. She slowed to a natural climb.
