Tongue Twisters

Think of a tongue twister

without a doubt I know some short alliterative phrase came to mind

and those?

Well those are easy,

But the tongue twisters don’t come in forms of tongue titillating tunes

they come in croons and cries like

“I love you.” and “I need you.”

And the worst ones get you

long before they reach the tooth tapping tip of your tongue

the worst ones

are the ones that pulse through precious pink mass

and behind the eyes when you’re holding tight,

but they’re slipping away

The worst ones are the ones that come when you have to explain

When the constant sound only repeats

Because you’re s-s-stuttering to get the words past your teeth

the worst ones are the ones you don’t get the chance to say

That shine in tic tac sized tears waiting to fall

the worst ones make you hurt

Oh but the good ones.

The good ones hurt too

They make you trip and stumble

Fumble about like you’re carrying one too many limes

And you’ve never been good at at pickup limes

you’ve never been good with puns either,

but they still feel good

Good like tongue twisters

Good like thinking thoughts that you never thought would make you think hard

Good like saying goodbye on your own terms

Goood like hugging your best friend after years of nothing but Skype

Good like sally making a profit

from selling seashells by the sea shore

Good like Peter Piper

When he picked his first peck of pickled peppers

Good

Because you feel like a kid again.
