Simón and Ámbar have been dating for a while now. They both agreed to keep it a secret for as long as they could. Simón wanted this because his friends would probably judge him for this and Ámbar did this because she always said that Simón wasn't at her level and definitely not on the level of Jazmín. Her friends would look weird at her if they ever found out about this. But they both knew they couldn't keep up the show for long, after a while, someone would notice.
But for now, they kept quiet. They were always sitting as far away from each other as possible. They made sure that they wouldn't skate together in some kind of competition. But sometimes, they couldn't help themselves and they dropped the show for a few seconds. Sometimes, they glanced at each other from across the room, they couldn't resist. When they caught each other's eyes, they smiled at each other with smiles that went from ear to ear. After that, they went back to whatever they were doing to not let anyone suspect that anything was going on between them.
Whenever they had a chance to be alone, they took it. They sometimes slipped into the locker room when they were sure that no one was there. As soon as the coast was clear, they made out for a few minutes. After a while, he realized this wasn't enough anymore, he didn't want to sneak around anymore. Ámbar wasn't ready yet, so they kept on going with their secret.
They thought that no one suspected a thing but Luna was very suspicious when he was happy all of a sudden and Ámbar was also smiling more than usual. She thought something was going on between them, but she told herself that it's not a true. That she's just imagining things.
One day, they got caught by Luna. They were in the park, far away from Jam & Roller. Just to be sure that no one would ever come here. But they were really wrong about that one. Luna went to the very same park around the time they were on a date, she wanted to practice some moves outside, and this park had the most space to do so.
When she was skating, she saw Ámbar sitting on a blanket, looking around, smiling. Luna figured that she was meeting someone, that she was on a date. She was curious as to who her date was, so she hid behind the tree to wait for the guy that would be coming. She saw Simón approaching her, a bouquet of flowers in his hands, he bought them at the florist around the corner of the street. He was also smiling. She didn't believe what she was seeing. Her head is spinning, shocked at what she was seeing. She thought that this was impossible, how can they like each other. It must be a joke, they are probably just meeting to write a new song for her, she was thinking. She eventually decided to confront her best friend when he gets back from his 'meeting'. She left the park, looking for another one to practice.
She didn't get to see him later that day so she decided to call him, she wanted an explanation right this moment.
"Hello, Luna. How's it going?" he answered after the second ring.
"Hi, Simón. I'm alright", she takes a deep breath and continues, "Is it possible to meet right now, I need to talk to you about something important?"
"Sure. Are you sure that everything is okay?" he sounded worried, he had no idea what this was about.
"No, everything's fine, really. I promise, I just want to ask you something and I'd rather do it face to face"
"Okay, let's meet at the park near Jam & Roller in half an hour. I have to finish my dinner first" he hung up and Luna was getting nervous. She needed to know the truth, she did. But she was a little afraid of the answer.
Half an hour later, Luna was sitting on a bench that faced a pond in the park. She tried to calm herself down a little. She didn't understand why she was so afraid, because there's no way that these two could be a thing, right. They don't like each other.
She didn't notice that Simón already arrived and was sitting next to her. She was too far away in her thoughts. She only realized when he called her name.
"Simón, I didn't see you arriving"
"Obviously, you were probably distracted again" he's laughing softly. But he stopped once he saw that she wasn't laughing. He started to get worried, something must be bothering her, he thought. "What is going on, Luna? You're not yourself."
"There's just a question that's been in my head ever since yesterday."
"What is it?" he had no idea what she was about to ask.
"I saw you yesterday, in the park, with Ámbar" she stated. He was alerted.
"What did you see?" he said with a bit of panic in his voice.
"It seemed like a date, but I think my mind is fooling me because I don't picture you with her. I never did. I thought it was a joke. But seeing your face right now, I have the feeling that it's not."
He sighed, not knowing what to say. He thought about his answer quite long. She was getting impatient so he eventually said: "It's true, I was on a date with her" he looked into her eyes to see what she was feeling because she didn't say a word. He saw shock in them.
"How long have you been... dating?" she couldn't believe that she was saying this, that he just said that.
"A couple of weeks. We didn't say anything because we wanted to keep it a secret. We were too afraid of what people might think. I wanted to say something because I couldn't keep this up any longer, she wasn't ready. So I kept it quiet. But I guess you know now" he waited for her reaction. She didn't say anything for a while, trying to process it all. He was getting uncomfortable. That's when she suddenly smiled.
"I'm happy that you two found each other. I mean that is if you guys are happy together."
He smiled as well and said: "Yes, we're very happy." All of their memories together came rushing into his head.
"If you're happy, I'm happy", she puts a hand on his shoulder.
"Can you do me a favor, Luna?"
"Sure, what is it?" she asked, a little concerned.
"Can you not say anything to anyone? It's just temporarily, until she's ready to say it."
"Of course I will, I can't believe you're so patient with her. She's lucky to have found you."
"I am as well, once you get to know her. She's a really great girl."
"I bet she is." They smile at each other and then give a hug. She's very happy that she knows the truth now.
