It was just a normal day at Jam & Roller. Simón and Luna were skating on the rink and made up steps as they went. They were laughing and having fun. It's been a long time since they had so much free time. They had to take advantage of this moment.
Simón was happy to spend this time with his best friend. She's been spending a lot of time with her boyfriend Matteo. He has been busy with the Roller Band as well. But even though he was having a good time, he couldn't help but be distracted by his current dilemma.
He found it hard to talk about considering most people did not understand how he could feel like this. But he couldn't help himself. He saw a light inside of her. He knows she's good inside but he just doesn't know how to convince other people of this. He doesn't even think she believes that there's good inside of her.
He wants to get closer to her but he has no idea how he could possibly approach her. She doesn't let anyone easily but he wants to be the one to get to know her through and through.
As he was contemplating all his options, he didn't realize Matteo called his girlfriend and she answered him. He also didn't notice Ámbar entering the rink, the one girl who caused this dilemma inside of him.
Her shoulders were slumped and she seemed sad somehow. An emotion he barely sees on her. But he hated to see her like this and he believed this was the right moment to approach her. He was hoping he could make her feel better. So he skated to her on the rink.
"Hey, Ámbar." he started slowly.
She seemed a little surprised to hear him but she recovered quickly and made sure no emotion was shown on her face: "Hey, Simón."
"How are you doing?" he was hoping she'd tell the truth but he knew it was futile.
"I'm fine and you?" she answered with a forced smile.
"I'm fine but it didn't look like you were fine a few minutes ago." he looked at her concerned. He never had wanted to see her smile as much as he wants to now.
"I don't know what you're talking about." she shrugged it off, still trying to keep it all inside. But he knew she needed to let it all out and she needed an ear that's willing to listen. He knew he could be that for her.
Simón carefully placed a hand on Ámbar's arm and lead her to the edge of the rink. She silently followed, not feeling like putting up a fight.
"I know something's bothering you. You know you can trust me. I want to help you." Simón stated. He resisted the urge to put his arms around her for comfort because he knew she needed to let it off her chest.
"Fine, it's my godmother." Ámbar sighed, it was hard for her to open up but she knew she could talk to Simón about almost everything. He's always been there for her, even when no one else was. The thought of that made something inside her chest flutter. She always felt these unexplainable emotions whenever he was around.
He nodded, letting her know he was listening and that's when it all came out of her mouth: "I tried to contact her so many times but she refuses to answer. I'm worried about her but I'm also sad that she won't even talk to me. If I'm being honest, it makes me feel so alone, knowing Sharon isn't here if I want to share something exciting or sad. I often feel like I can't talk to anyone about the things I want to talk about." she let out a shaky breath. "I know it sounds weird coming from me but I feel like no one really understands me and it's a lonely thought to have.
Simón couldn't hold it in anymore and put his arms around her. He held her tight and after a while she hugged him back and he felt her letting out the tears she has been holding back. They stood there for a while, not noticing all the weird looks they got from the other skaters on the rink.
After the tears subsided, she let go of him and wiped the dried up tears from her cheeks. She was a little embarrassed to have done this in front of everyone but she couldn't help it. She felt so safe and secure with him.
"You're not alone, Ámbar. I know it might feel like that sometimes but you're not alone. If you ever do feel like that again. You just have to look for me or call me and I'll let you know I'm here for you because I am." Simón gave her a small smile, a little embarrassed to admit this.
"How? You barely know me." she said, trying to find a reason as to why he would do something like this.
"I know you, bonita. You might not believe me but I do, I've only had a few conversations with you but I know that even though you put up a good front, you're scared. Scared of what everyone thinks. You want everything to be perfect and if it's not, you find a way to make it perfect. You might come off as strong minded, which you are, but you have a big heart that just wants someone to be there for her as much as you'd be there for them if they let you." Simón said seriously.
Ámbar was speechless when she heard all of this. So much was going through her head. She had no idea what to say to this, all she could think about was the feelings that were going through her, happiness to know someone is out there for her, someone who understands her, relief to know she could lean on someone. Confusion because she never felt like this before, the butterflies in her stomach, the feeling of something tightening in her chest. The constant desire to spend time with this incredibly sweet and selfless guy. It was overwhelming but apparently, he wasn't done.
Simón scratched the back of his neck and he suddenly got nervous. He had no idea if it was the right moment but he couldn't keep it in any longer. He had to tell her how he felt about her.
"There's something about you, bonita, that I can't explain. Something that pulls me in and something inside of me that keeps wanting more. To get to know you better, to spend more time with you. All I really know is that there's a mystery in your eyes that I want to discover and can't look away from." He took a step closer and took a deep breath, getting ready to say the thing he was most nervous about, "I... I think I'm fallling in love with you, Ámbar."
He leaned in slowly and that's when it all clicked with Ámbar, all the feelings, all the desires. So before she knew it, she was leaning in too and their lips touched. They kissed slowly at first but the kiss grew more passionate with time. They didn't stop until they both pulled away for much needed air. Now she knew that whatever's happening between them, she wasn't opposed to it and wanted to see what will happen next. She liked the way he saw her.
Then, she said the words no one would expect to hear: "I think I'm falling in love with you too." she whispered but he heard it clearly and he was euforious.
This day couldn't have gotten better and they both were excited to see where this was going.
