The month passed faster than any Winchester or Novak would like to admit. They watched the day they were dreading coming faster and faster, and before they knew it, they were staring it dead in the face.
Sam rolled over in bed, his eyes bleary with sleep as he squints at his alarm clock. 5:34 am. Who the hell got up that early? He runs a hand through his hair, trying to squash the growing sadness in the pit of his stomach as he realised that today was the eve of their final day here. His mouth went dry, making it even harder to swallow around the lump in his throat as his thoughts go to Gabe.
He found it hard to get out of bed now, his limbs like lead as he drags himself into the bathroom with a somber expression. Passing his brother in the hall told him that he too was feeling the dread of facing the following day.
Sam couldn't do this, he just couldn't face saying goodbye to his best friend and boyfriend, the pain was already too much. The group of friends had had a good month together, hanging out nearly everyday and enjoying one another's company before it would be too late.
It wasn't long before the Winchester brother's were downstairs, and out the door. They both climb into the Impala and Dean starts driving towards the school, the car was silent for the entire time, Dean even turned the music off as they rolled out of the driveway.
They pulled up next to the Novak's old car, the pimp-mobile as Dean liked to call it. Sam steps out of the Impala and looks around the school's car park. Sure enough, it didn't take him long to spot a certain golden haired shorty who was running towards them. Gabe threw his arms around Sam, nearly winding the taller boy as he knocked into him.
"Sammy! I was scared you weren't showing up today, that we wouldn't be able to say goodbye..." Gabriel trails off, burying his face in Sam's chest.
Sam wraps his arms around Gabriel's torso, eyes watering as he forces a strained smile on his face. "I don't le-leave until tomorrow."
Gabe raises a surprisingly tear streaked face, "I know kiddo, I'm just gonna miss you so much, I can't move on."
"You'll move on, we... we haven't even left yet so how would you know?" God, Sam thought tomorrow would the hardest day but this, this was terrible.
"Cheer up guys, we still have today so why don't we make the most of it?" Dean was obviously trying to stay as cheery as possible, and Sam knew it was probably an attempt to make this easier on him.
"How about you all ditch and join us for frozen yogurt?" Lucifer pops up from behind a neighboring car.
They all jump, before laughing weakly.
"That actually sounds like a good idea," Dean says, unsurprisingly enough he was eager to skip school.
"I'm up," Sam didn't see the point in staying at school if they were leaving.
"Let's go!" Gabe smiled at Sam, excited at the thought of sugar.
Sam ran a hand through his hair, forcing strained smile on his face as they got into the Impala. Somehow, Dean, Cas, Gabe, Sam and Lucifer with Michael on his lap all managed to fit into the one car.
"Someone should probably tell Charlie, she'd be pissed if she found out we did this without her," Michael commented, blushing as Lucifer placed his hands on Mikey's hips.
Sam pulls out his phone and sends off a quick message to Charlie. She was quick to reply, saying they would meet the group there and Dean starts the car, peeling out of the parking lot. Sam grabs Gabriel's hand, planning to enjoy this last day together with no tears, those would come tomorrow.
