HALLUCINATIONS

ATTICUS FOUND HERSELF TRYING TO STAND UP OFF THE HOSPITAL BED, SLWOLY BUT SURELY. She staggered across the cold tiled floor, her feet pattering against it as she walked, she made it into the small bathroom. She leaned on the wall as a wave of nausea hit her hard and she made it to the sink, looking at her reflection, feeling sick. Blood was still crusted onto the sides of her cheeks and her entire body was still covered in the dry dark crimson liquid. She slowly twirled on her heels, removing the clothe of the hospital gown that was sticking to her body due to the sweat from her nightmares. She discarded it to the side beside the sink and turned the shower on. Cold water started squirting out of the shower head and then extremely warm water started steaming up the mirror in the small restroom. She slipped past the flower patterned curtain, stepping into the relaxing shower with ease and her muscles finally relaxed. The water traveled down her body in droplets and she closed her eyes for a minute, taking in the nice feeling of warmth and relaxation.

She peeled her eyes open again and grabbed the bar of soap next to her, scrubbing fast at the blood that was attached to her lanky arms. She scrubbed for a total of two minutes until she got every single speck of blood off. She looked down at the water that was now pooling at her feet and it was a dark bloody red.

"What the hell?" She whispered to herself as she intently starred at the water, wishing the redness would suddenly disappear. Atticus has terrible luck, so she wasn't surprised when she saw all of the water turn into buckets of blood from the drain. Tons and tons of gushing blood started drenching her naked legs and she forced herself to not scream. It was just a hallucination after all she told herself.

She thrashed her legs around in the water, more blood red than clear liquid, trying to somehow kick it away into an unknown void. The water suddenly turned freezing cold, her body shivered as it connected with her skin and she pulled back trying to escape the chilly water. The cold clear water was now hitting the blood at the bottom of the tub creating a noise that sounded just like rain. Such as the rain that had fallen from the overcasted grey sky on the day Josephine was murdered. She knelt down, her knees dipping into the bloody liquid and she sank her arms into the substance, trying to find the drain and see where all the blood was coming from. Her palms scraped against the indented sides of the tub until she found the drain. A look of terror washed over her face as she stuck her hand further down the drain, trying to grab whatever was blocking the deep reddish purple colored water from going down.

A horrifying scream erupted from the belly of the frightened golden-haired girl as a large white glove extended from the blood lake of water underneath her. The glove firmly snatched her up by the wrist and with force she tried escaping. The only thing she saw was the bloody water and the glove as white as snow that had the tightest grip on her. She whimpered in between sobs while crying out for someone to help her, he was determined to get her.

"SOMEONE HELP!" She had managed to snake her one free arm around the bright patterned curtain and yank it down. It fell to the floor with a loud bang and the grip on her arm was released quickly. She grabbed a towel, wrapping it around her body, fleeing from the bathroom and screaming for help.

"What's wrong?" A brunette male nurse questioned looking at the girl up and down, searching for any wounds.

"In the bathroom—" She gestured and firmly gripped the towel tighter around her body as streams of tears fell off her rosy cheeks, "—the blood and the glove and the clown."

The nurse ran into the bathroom, not surprised that he saw nothing wrong with the restroom, besides that the shower was left on. He walked back into the main room and helped her up off the floor. "Atticus, there's nothing in there." He walked out of the small corridor, giving her time to get fully clothed before bringing back a red-headed female doctor. She sat with her knees in her arms, rocking back and forth, still crying. She rested her eyes on the two experienced adults as they whispered in each other's ears. They were being too quiet for her to eavesdrop and the incoherent words that left their lips softly fluttered around the room like wonder less butterflies.

"Honey—" the cherry-haired women reeled back, "—listen to me. You need to calm down. There's no clowns and blood or whatever the hell you think you saw. You had an extremely severe concussion,it's just your imagination."

Atticus tilted her head to the side to make eye contact with the doctor as she chanted, "No. No. No."

"No, it was real. He's trying to get me. Listen. He's going to kill me and my friends and all the kids in this town if we don't stop him. I have to go now." Atticus rambled under her tongue as she tried swallowing the lump in her throat.

"Ms. Rose, please calm down you can't leave." The nurse informed, pushing the girl down back into the soft mattress by her shoulder.

"I'm afraid he's right. Until we know you aren't hallucinating anymore, you have to stay here for your own protection." The women stated and Atticus huffed in clear annoyance, "But I'm not hallucinating. Listen, lady, this little act of yours is getting old. Just let me go home. I just want to talk with my friends."

The doctor weakly sent a smile in Atticus Rose's direction before replying, "I sent you friends home. You are in no state to be up and about with them. A couple more days of rest will do you good. Them too."

They both exited the room leaving the blonde teenager by herself. She flung her middle finger out in the direction of the door and cursed, "BITCH!"
