Dipper's POV:
I wake up, for once, not like normal. My life will never be normal as long as Bill is in it. I try to make today as normal as possible by doing everything as usual. The only thing different is that I have to worry about waking someone and not letting them see me get dressed. It works until everyone is awake. Ford is here unlike normal along with the new addition to the household. I now have to make two more meals than usual, great. Bill smiles as he eats his pancakes and gets questioning looks from Mable and Stan. Well besides the looks from when he walked in and Ford and me looked like it wasn't weird there was another person in the house sitting at the table. "What are you smiling at?" Mable asks him. He swallows before explaining, "Dipper was being sarcastic." Now the looks were like 'are you stupid or something? No one said anything.' Ford explained this time, "He can read minds." Now they were confused and scared. Ford realized this and continued, "He is William Rephic, he was born with supernatural powers that are genetic and include mind reading and summoning objects." Bill adds, "I can summon people to, I just have to summon a portal first so they can walk through it. I can do it without the portal with some more practice." he smiles as he finishes. With more questions in their minds, probably why he was here, they went back to eating and did their usual routine. I did as well and just told Bill to follow.
I went to the counter and sat behind it as always and Bill sat on the spare that Mable used when she was done early. We sat there for awhile in silence and I think Bill was shocked at my ability to keep my mind blank. Yeah, if I just focus on the nothing then time goes by quicker, I only stop when I see a customer at the counter. He looked at me incredulously, "How can you do that? Aren't you humans supposed to never be able to stop thinking?" I answer him, 'I am thinking. I am focused on the nothingness and trying to hold on to it.' He seems to ponder that for a minute and looks back at me, "That is incredible. I don't know if you knew this, but you are the most intelligent human I've ever met, Ford included. He is smart, but your ability and at such a young age dominates over his." I look away quickly. I was blushing and I have no clue why, he probably doesn't mean it. I think of the nothingness in hopes that he doesn't hear my negative thoughts, but fail as I see the frown on his face. I hope he knows it wasn't personal. I actually have trust issues and that's a reason I only have Mable, Stan, and Ford. The other was my muteness.
More time went on. It seemed like a minute in the nothingness, but was actually around forty-five minutes in real time. Mable came up and said, "Hey Dipper, how's it going?" I go to sign but remember Bill's cover and nudged him. 'tell her I said hi and I'm doing good. Ask her how she's doing.' He nods and says, "Dip here said hello, he's doing good and want to know how you are." She looks at him surprised but answers me first, "It's a slow day, so pretty boring. William, if you really can read people's minds what am I thinking?" He takes the accusation with stride, "You are allowing me access to your head and private thoughts? I would like permission 'cause once I go in, I'm allowed in any other time I want." She thinks that over and says, "Okay, you have permission if you promise not to go in all the time." He nods and says, "Think of anything." She nods and stays quiet. Bill stares at her in slight concentration. After a minute he blushes and says, "Mable, I will not say that in front of him." Mable has this grin like she saw her OTP go cannon. Don't judge me, she talks about this stuff all the time. "Okay then, let's talk about it in the other room." She sprints into the house part of the shack, presumably the living room, and Bill walks in after her. I wonder what Mable said.
Bill's POV:
Mable runs into the living room with me trailing behind at a much slower pace. When I get there I see her on the couch bouncing impatiently, and I sit next to her. She smiles and says, "So you do like him?!" She was referring to my reaction to her thoughts which were, "You guys are so cute together! You're my new OTP!' I have no idea what an OTP is but I know what the first part meant. I decide to answer truthfully because I know nothing about emotions other than how people react when they get them. "I don't know, I've never felt anything before. I lived alone for a long time." She looked sad but returned to her normal bubbly self, "I can help with that! Describe what it feels like around him." I sigh before saying, "That's hard. I feel weird around him, like my stomach has something wrong with it. I don't want him to be upset with me, I feel like that would hurt a lot. I like it when he smiles, it looks like the best thing this universe has to offer." She lights up like a Christmas tree, Fourth of July, and New Years all put together on steroids. She squealed so loud, dolphins on the east coast heard her.
