I could never sleep in this place.
Shivering from the cold winter weather on still sucks. No pillow , hell even a cover couldn't take away the pain I was feeling in my back.
I never consider it a bed for the last 17 years I've been in here.
" man I wish they'll shut the fuck up " my bump mate Don said.
He wasn't the only one irritating with those clowns that shouted out for no reason. It was late at night and people are trying to sleep.
Eventually I sat up from the pain in my lower back.
It's been like this every since I got here when I was 17.
For the rest of the night I stayed awake until the sun was peeking from the sky.
It's not like every day I get any sleep though.
The sound of the cell door being unlock alerted me.
" Jennings you have a visitor "
My thick eyebrows knitted together.
No one has ever visit me.
Not even my own family.
" I know I'm surprise as you are " he said snarkly.
Dean was always a jackass. Every since I got in this joint. He made it his goal to taunt me.
Of course when I got here I reacted out of anger which sent me to isolation plenty of times.
But I learned to get use to his antics.
Him and another C.O chained me up making sure I didn't trying anything crazy.
They both walk me to the visitation room where it was small amount of other families talking with love ones.
Too bad I didn't have any.
I did notice my lawyer standing by a table with some paperwork.
" good evening Mr. Jennings "
" wassup " I said taking a seat in the chair facing him.
I realize he aged a lot from when he took on my case. Now he has a grey beard and head.
" I've got good news ..... you're eligible for parole "
That's when he started pulling out the paperwork from the manila folder like I understood what it said.
" you spent the maximum time for the arm robbery "
I hated being reminded of my past.
" so therefore the judge will allow you to have parole "
" so when can I get out of here "
" early as next month Mr. Jennings "
That was the best news I received since forever.
" and not only that but you'll be provided a room in a half way house you will only have to stay their for a few months, you get a job to get back on your feet "
" uh ... thank you " I said to him.
All ever wanted to do is start my life over and now I have the chance.
