Makoto X Reader ~Late to the Party~

*So... I know I've haven't updated in months and I'm sorry guys. I've just been so caught up with work. But I'm here again to bring you new chapters. This one actually happened kinda, about the work thing. But no more of me chatting let's get to point shall we.*

School ended in a flash today and you were excited because today was Makoto's birthday and you couldn't wait to give your gift. But that was when your phone began to buzz. Taking it out of your pocket you noticed that it was your job, with a sigh you picked it up.

"Hello."

"Yes, (Y/N). Do you think you could come in tonight? I know you requested this day off, But we are short staffed and no one else answered their phones."

 "How long will you need me to work tonight because I have a birthday party to attend to."

"I'll probably have you just work a 5 to 9."

"Yeah that's fine I'll just be a little late to his party."

"Okay. Thank you for doing this. We'll see you when you get here."

With that, you ended the call. You looked at the guys and sighed loudly.

"So, I have to go to work guys. I won't be able to swim today. I'm sorry."

"No. It's okay (Y/N). Your job comes first." Rei said reassuringly.

"Well, it's only a short shift so I should be able to go straight to Haru's after work."

"Okay. Try not to have to much fun at work." Nagisa jokingly poked fun at you.

You shook your head at his comment and quickly got out of the school to your house to get changed and head to work. Once you arrived you were instantly handed a headset. 

"So I'm on drive-thru tonight I thought I would just be a floater helping out everyone?" 

"Well that's something I need to ask you would you possibly be able to close tonight instead?" One of your managers asked.

Knowing it was your favorite manager you knew you couldn't refuse. 

"Fine but I have to be out of here before midnight."

"That's fine, and thank you again (Y/N)."

You were put on register tonight so cashing out orders wasn't too much of a hassle. Or so you thought until you were stuck with some co-workers you didn't like that much. Only because they never did their job. Jesse would help out but not as much as you would like, but when he went on his break you were stuck with Janelle who was even worse. She would be right by the order screen and just let the headset beep because she would be on her phone. So you always had to answer for her as she still stood there. As the night went by it was time for you to be on your break so you thought it would be a perfect time to call Rei and let him know that you were stuck closing now.

"Hello?" Rei answered.

"Hey so I've got even more bad news they want me to close tonight so I don't know if I'll be able to make it there on time we have been pretty busy tonight."

"Oh, that's why you haven't shown up yet."

"Yeah, sorry. I told them that I need to be out before midnight so hopefully, they'll listen to me."

"That's fine. Just keep us posted."

"Okay. Well, I'll talk to you guys later My break is over so  I got to let you go. Bye."

"Bye."

"So was that your boyfriend (Y/N)?" Janelle asked as you clocked back in. 

"No. He's just apart of the club I'm in."

"Oh, I see. So if you don't mind me why did you call out today?"

"It's my best friends birthday and we were going to celebrate."

"Oh, that's nice."

Half-assed smiling at her comment you grabbed a towel and started to wipe stuff down. Time passed by even more and it was soon 10 and your store was closed you thought. There were still people in the lobby and you had give them 5 more minutes. Janelle went out there and told the people out in the lobby that we closed at 10 and that we were giving them 5 more minutes to finish their food. Some of the elderly ladies got pissy with her.

"I thought you guys closed at 11 that's what your website says." Said, one lady.

"I'm sorry that's our summer hours and we can't change that. But that's why I'm giving you ladies 5 more minutes to finish up your meals."

Janelle came back up to the rest of us and told us what was going on and we just started cleaning up what we could. At this point it was now 10:35 and the ladies were still out in the lobby. Finally, your other manager went out there to tell them that we were very sorry but they had to leave. At this point, you were really annoyed with older people. Jesse and you were on front cleaning up and Janelle was cleaning in the lobby. By the time Jesse and you were done with your area that's when Janelle asked you to help her with dishes. You couldn't say no to a manager so you sighed heavy and made your way to the dishes. You check the time on your phone and noticed it was already 11:40 and you need to get to Haru's and see Makoto. 

"Hey. Janelle, I need to go. I helped you out with some of the dishes but I need to get to this party before it's midnight." 

"Okay, that's fine." She said shrugging.

You quickly clocked out grabbed your bag and headed to your car. You called Rei back through your car's Bluetooth. (Because driving and talking on the phone is bad and dangerous.) 

"Hey, I'm on my way over now. Because I have useless co-workers."

"Oh, well I'm already at my house. I believe Makoto's still at Haru's though."

"Okay. That's fine. I'll talk to you later."

"Alright. Bye."

You parked your car on the street at bolted it up the stairs to Haru's. Huffing you rang the doorbell. Haru came to the door. 

"Hey. (Y/N) you know your late right?"

You panicked and look at your phone to see he was right it was already 12:15.

"Shit! Is Makoto even still here?"

"Yeah, he's in the kitchen."

You rushed past Haru and made your way to Makoto.

"I'm so sorry Makoto. I tried so hard to be here on time. But I was late."

"Awe, It's okay (Y/N). I'm not mad I'm just glad you made it here before I went home."

 You pulled Makoto into a bear hug and gave him a peck on his cheek. 

"Happy Late Birthday than jerk." You said smiling brightly.

He smiled and kissed your lips and pulled away leaving you all flushed.

"Thank you (Y/N)."

*Okay so there you have it a late chapter for a late birthday. Ughh I hate work sometimes. But it pays the bills. But hopefully, I will be posting more chapters since we are in winter hours and my job. I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. Requests are still open for anyone.
