3. Engagement?

Not more than a week has passed, my mom called me to say the date of my engagement. I can't take this shit anymore, I blurted out that I love someone. Then immediately my father came to line and threatened me to come home immediately or else they will drag me to home. I said that there were internal exams, but they won't listen to me! I begged them not to come here and make a scene.

"I'm giving you two days Brinda! Come home or you know what I will do, you already humiliated us by loving someone! You're telling us now? After seeing Groom's family?!" I hear mom saying something in background, he snaps at her to shut up.

"You did this! I told you not to let her study in another town! You never listen!"

"Daddy! Please don't snap at mom! She didn't do anything! It's all my fault!" my voice shook from screaming.

"Of course it is and it's our fault to let you study there! You're coming home tomorrow!"he barks, I try to protest but he is growling so slowly. I'm terrified when he talks like that. "There.is.no.love, you won't say a word about love to anybody! You do what I say, you are coming home immediately!" he yells and hung up.

I shiver and look at the phone, I don't know what to do. He will definitely send his minions to drag me home. He is in politics, he is indeed capable of doing anything he wants to. He is capable of killing Nikki too. I can't risk Nikki's life, I'm getting tears of frustration. I thought we have some time! Nobody can understand my feeling right now. There is only one person who will understand urgency of my situation so I called him.

Our Warden is a bitch, its 10.20 PM, we are not allowed to go outside past 9 PM. I have to climb the damn wall then. Lasya is distracting our Warden by talking some crap about periods so I quickly made my way outside making no sound. I need to get past the watchman now, I could bribe him but he is probably drunk and asleep by now. I exhale in frustration when I look at the gate.

The damn gate is locked!

Of course it is locked! What do you expect?!

My subconscious screamed, I ignore it and made my way far from gate where some rocks are resting against wall. My phone buzzs in my pocket, I quickly take it out. He is here, waiting outside the gate. I climb on the sticky rocks carefully and kept a foot on wall. I climbed trees when I was kid but I never climbed a wall.

Oh god, it is not easy, my whole body is trembling when I pushed myself on top of the wall. I exhale while sitting on the wall and turn my body to other side. Oh my god! I have to jump from here to that ground? It's too freaking high! I look to my right; Nikki is leaning on wall and checking his phone.

"Nikki!" I hiss, he lifts his head up from phone and looks at the gate cautiously.

"I'm here!" I wave my hand in air, he turns to me now and looks at me in awe. He comes running to my side and starts grinning like a stupid, "Oh my Brinda Leela! I would come daily if you risk like this to see me!" he smirks keeping his hands on his hips.

I narrow my eyes at him, "Stop grinning and help me!" I sway my leg to hit his shoulder but he backs away immediately.

"Aha! If you keep doing that, I will leave you here by yourself. Beg me I will help you." He demands folding his arms to his chest. My mouth hung open, I can't believe this! He finds this amusing?

"Gosh! Nikith! Help me, it's not funny.." I pout in cute away to make him melt but he shakes his head.

"tsh tsk tsk.. Say please..." he demands raising his brows

"Nikki!" I whine. He puts his hand behind his ear, "I'm hearing,"

"Ugh! Fine! Baby.... my little baby Nikki... My cute boy, my cutie pie Nikki, can u please help me?" I mimic like a little girl with my sweet voice.
