“So what are you going to do now?” Katie asked knowing this wasn’t the worst that could happen. We were at the park in our neighborhood and Brenna and Sabrina were playing on the jungle gym set up for 5 year olds. Katie and I were just swinging on the swings.
“Delete my twitter. Get a fake identity and move to Canada.” I said with a sigh. Mia was right. I was the one who hit her hand to hard and it sent, but seriously, this was bad.
“Oh yeah because they don’t have fans in Canada.” Katie joked. “Just let him find you. At least you’ll get your camera back.”
“I don’t want it back. School starts tomorrow and I wanted this year to be semi normal.”
“Yeah even though you’re moving in like a month.”
“Exactly. I don’t want to move to California and have everyone there be like ‘Oh my god. You’re the girl Harry Styles was looking for. People will probably use me to get to them. That’s one thing I’m not interested in.”
“Hey look on the bright side. Maybe if you let him find you, you’ll be able to date him. And don’t lie to me. You’ve been in love with him since the first time you saw him.”
“Katie, it’s more difficult than that. I can’t date him. That would be terrible. Besides, he probably just want’s to give me my camera back.”
“I don’t know it seemed like he was pretty flirty at the meet and greet.” She winked at me. We both knew it was true. He was flirting, but he’s just a flirt. It meant nothing.
“Are you guys still discussing the Harry issue?” Brenna joked walking over to us with Sabrina about a pace behind her.
“Bren, what am I going to do? It’s obvious he can find me now.” I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. Obviously another tweet about the ‘mystery girl’. Except this one was straight from the Twitter app.
“Oh crap.” My eyes grew big.
“What? What happened?” Katie said looking over my shoulder at my phone screen. Her eyes grew big.
“I got a new follower.” I said trying to make this not as big as it obviously is.
“Who?” Sabrina asked me now trying to look too.
“Harry Styles.” I said my voice shaking with fear. My phone went off again. This time though it was a text message saying I got a DM.
“He messaged me. Of course.” I sighed unlocking my phone. I guess I couldn’t ignore this forever.
“What’s it say?” Katie asked, basically begging me to read it because she knew the last thing I wanted to do was read it.
“It says ‘Hey mystery girl. I hope you can read this because you were grounded. I need to see you again. Please respond to this soon. Love, Harry XOXO’” I looked up at my friends who were in total shock. “I guess he recognized me.” I sighed.
“ANSWER HIM!!!!” Brenna yelled at me.
“No way. He’s not seeing me again. He’s not finding me.”
“Julia, you need to see this.” Katie said holding her phone out to me. Harry tweeted back to the girl at school. This is great. I read the tweet aloud.
“Thank you so much. I will be sure to find her with your help.” This is just getting better and better. My phone then rang again, but this time it was a text from my mom.
“My mom says it’s getting late and I need to be home for dinner. I’ll see you guys tomorrow at school.” I got up and walked back home. This is terrible.
I shut my front door and Mia appeared from practically no where giving me a heart attack.
“God Mia you scared me.” I said trying to catch my breath.
“Heard Harry found you.” She said to me squinting her eyes. Weird girl.
“How?” I asked. This girl doesn’t even have a twitter.
“It’s all over facebook. Some girl in your grade is saying Harry tweeted her back because she knew the mystery girl. Unfortunately for you, she posted the picture of you and him on facebook so now everyone knows you’re the mystery girl.”
“What?! Junior year hasn’t even started yet and this is what’s gong to happen all year. I can hear it now. ‘Hey mystery girl, how’s Harry?’ That’s the last thing I-” I got cut off by my 20 year old brother Bobby walking in the room.
“Don’t get quiet so fast.” He laughed. I sighed. “So what are you freaking out about now?” He asked knowing my life was basically all drama.
“Nothing.” I said. No one else can know. I looked at Mia. She better not say something.
“Harry Styles is looking for Julia.” Of course Mia would say that.
“MIA!”
“What? Everyone else already knows. It’s all over facebook, twitter, tumblr, yahoo, and the news. He would find out eventually.”
“Bobby, do not tell mom or dad okay?” I begged. He laughed and smiled at me.
“If it’s everywhere like Mia says it is they’re going to find out eventually. I won’t tell.” He laughed as he walked away.
“You’re killing me Mia.” I said rolling my eyes.
“Yeah I know.” She walked into the kitchen so she could have dinner. I was left standing there for a minute before my my brothers Tyler and Jackson walked over to me.
“Hey mystery girl.” Tyler joked. Not them too. They’re only a year older than me they obviously would find out from facebook.
“Hey Tyler.” I laughed
“Everyone on facebook is talking about you. All saying how lucky you are. So how’s Harry?” Jackson joked and winked at me. My phone rang again before I could answer him. Another DM.
“Please don’t think I’m crazy for messaging you again. I need to see you. Please message me back.” I sighed.
“Who was that? Harry?” Tyler said sarcastically.
“Actually, yeah it was.” I handed him my phone and Jackson leaned in to see the message.
“Ok so he wants to find you. Message him back. Give him that much. He really seems to like you.” Jackson said, always trying to be the voice of reason.
“I do not want him to find me. He has my camera so he can remember me from that.” I said now getting annoyed at everyone wanting me to talk to him.
“Julia, there are like over a million girls out there wishing they were you, and you’re acting like it’s a bad thing that your celebrity crush has tracked you down and is now trying to contact and see you again. You’re crazy.” Jackson explained. Tyler still had my phone.
“Give me my phone back.” I demanded knowing I shouldn’t have handed it to him. He stalled a minute. Then gave it to me with a smirk.
“Here.” He winked and walked away. He better not have...he did.
“Did he message-” I cut Jackson off.
“Yes.” I closed my eyes tight.
“What did he say?” Jackson was always the person to be there for me, especially at a time like this.
“He wrote ‘Hey, I just got your messages. I haven’t been able to contact you I’m sorry. Hope to see you soon.”
“You hate him?” Jackson asked.
“Nah, he’s just the best brother ever.” I said sarcastically as I followed Jackson into the kitchen for dinner.
