Blood and tears...

I opened my eyes very, very slowly while standing up, I was shaking uncontrollably.  My eyes looked past the trail of red blood and I saw Luke, sitting on the ground in a rapidly growing pool of his own blood, clutching his chest where the knife had pierced him.  I fell to the ground screaming and crying, holding him in my arms.  I didn't take the knife out of him, but instead held him as my tears slid from my cheeks onto his pale face while I held it and listened to his final words.
"Julia, run. Leave now, I'll be okay." His voice started quickly fading on the last word. Last words, Lies. I knew what was indelibly going to happen. There was no way that anyone could save him. He had just lost too much blood.
"Luke, no!  Please!"
"Julia, I will be with you.  I'll see my mom again up there again you know." As he said this, a tear slid down his cheek. He even knew that he was dying. I wiped the tear away, I couldn't even lie and tell him that I could make him better, that everything was going to be all right. It wasn't. He knew that, just as well as I did.
"It's really not even that bad."He assured me. I knew that this was a lie as I wiped another tear from his face. "I'm sorry we never went out on our date tonight." He joked trying to lighten the mood as he made an attempt at laughing. I just smiled and said,"That ok," as yet more tears escaped my eyes and trickled down my face. He said, "I just wanted to be able to tell you how much I love you."  I whispered to him," I love you too," choking on every word. I leaned down and our lips met but only for a second. His eyes then turned to glass never to return.  Suddenly, his full weight fell into my arms,  I could no longer hold him. He fell from my grasp onto the floor as yet more tears escaped my glistening eyes. I glared up at Don who had watched Luke's demise. His eyes glinted with happiness like a child in a candy shop, and I saw a huge smile grow on his face. That sick, twisted smile that he pulled off so well.
