"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!" Tracer exclaimed as she read the file. "According to that? He appears to be a relative of yours. Your father?" Said Reaper said calmly. Before anyone could react, Tracer had bolted out of cover and began charging across the battle field. "Oh, don't mind me chérie, I'm fine." Widowmaker said light heartedly. "As impulsive as ever." Mercy said almost with a smirk.
Further in the foyer the newly awoken Alexander Oxton was taking out what was left of Talon. As Tracer got closer some of the Talon troops turned their attention to her. This only served to aggravate Tracer. "Would you SOD OFF!!" She growled as she took out a pulse grenade and tossed it at them. The grenade landed in the centre of a small group and sent them flying ragdolled in multiple directions. "Well aimed." Alexander said to her as she approached his left. "Whatever. I have questions and they're in the way." Tracer chirped back. Alexander relaxed his shoulders and turned his body to face Tracer. He kept the rifle he was using trained on the cover he had previously been looking at. As a Talon trooper, the last Talon trooper, popped out from the cover Alexander fired his shot without looking away from Tracer and hit his mark dead centre. "You're name is Lena Oxton, you work for a group called Overwatch. Over there is Reaper, Mercy and Widowmaker, you're girlfriend. They filled me in when they woke me up. You want to know who I am, I'll give you the quick version here and a detailed one once we're out and debriefed. I'm Alexander Oxton but the file tells you that. I'm your great grandfather. Father to your father's father. Around the time your dad was being born I volunteered for this program, to be frozen as the first human trial for lengthy cryogenics. I'll go over details another time, I think Widowmaker deserves your attention more than I do right now." Alexander explained swiftly, and Tracers eyes suddenly widened with the realisation that she'd ran off, abandoning an injured Widowmaker. "Crap crap crap crap!" She cry as she blinked rapidly back across the war torn foyer.
"Amélie! I'm so sorry! Are you ok?" Tracer called as she skidded to her knees when she arrived at Widowmakers side. "I'm fine chérie, Mercy is taking good care of me. I've also been filled in on our new friend. Good family reunion?" she responded with a gentle smile. Lena had told Amélie all about her life and her family history. Her grandparents had died 3 years after she was born so she didn't know them well enough to remember, her birth mother and father had died in a car crash when she was 9. Her uncle, by friendship and bond to her father, adopted her, took her in, taught her about her parents as she grew up. Even this wasn't to last long as only 7 years later he passed away after battling cancer. It was at this point, at 16 years of age, that Lena decided to take after her family and joined the RAF to become a pilot, and a fine pilot she made, becoming one of the best the Royal Air Force had. Soon after she was scouted by Overwatch and at 19 joined their ranks as the youngest recruit ever enlisted with them. Then the fateful accident testing a new aircraft happened and Lena was lost to limbo and unable to stay in one time stream. Amélie had felt an unfamiliar lump form in her stomach when she had heard the story, Lena had been through so much, as much as she had just in a different way. But now there was optimism on the horizon for Lena, a member of her actual family, could be here in the flesh right now. Something positive for her after all the negative, just like she herself had been Amélie's positive. "Don't worry about that Luv, let's get you out of here and then we'll look at possible family stuff." Tracer told her. "You're patched up but not healed, so steady, ja. Reaper could you carry her please, gently. I'll radio extraction. Herr Oxton? We are calling for extraction, would you like to come with us or find your own way?" Mercy asked as Reaper carefully lifted Widowmaker off the ground. "I'm in a time I don't know, with rules and laws I don't know. There's an enemy hunting me for their own exploits and a possibility that one of your team is my blood. So sure, I'll catch a ride with you thanks." Alexander replied with a familiar cheeky smile. "Well would you look at that. Your attitude and sarcasm is an inherited trait Oxton." Reaper smirked out quietly and got a glare from Tracer it. "Gut. Shuttle One do you copy?" Mercy said into her communicator. "Shuttle One copies. Ready for pick up?" Soldier replied. "Ja, we have one injury und one extra passenger for immediate extraction." Mercy confirmed. "Roger en route, ETA 2 minutes" Soldier informed them, and the group made their way carefully out, Alexander kept his eyes on the corpses around them in case anyone had decided to play dead and ambush them on the way out.
As the group reached the entrance to the facility Soldier was landing the shuttle and had the doors open ready for them. "All aboard. Time to head home." He stated as both teams and their plus one climbed in and Mercy closed the doors behind them. All buckled up Tracer moved to the cockpit l. "Hey old man. Do you mind if I fly us back? Need to clear my mind a bit." She asked as she took to the co-pilots seat. "Sure, go ahead. I'll help out in back." Soldier replied as he gave her control of the shuttle and stepped out to the back of the shuttle. Tracer let out a breath and danced her fingers over the consoles, taking the shuttle up and away, back to Overwatch Alpha. Soldier eyed up their plus one and felt himself tense slightly, a combination of minor intimidation and respect gripped him, he could tell by just looking at the man that he was a warrior, a fighter and would have made a very challenging adversary if Talon had got to him first. "Major General Oxton. Commander Jack Morrison, known as Soldier:76. Tracer, Lena, has told us a lot about your division of the British Army. Glad we don't have to fight you if I'm honest." He said giving a respectful solute. "Just call me Lex for now. Pretty sure I'm a civilian nowadays Commander." Alexander replied giving a solute back to show mutual respect. "It shouldn't take us long to get back, not with the kid at the helm. Once we land we do a debrief, we can fill you in on the current world in more detail and you'll be able to tell us what you know. From there we'll help get you set up for a life here in this time whether you choose to join us or if you decide to go to sleep again. Or stay in this time as a, civilian, as you put it." Soldier explained. "That's a very fair offer, thank you. How's your team mate doing?" Alexander asked, moving his gaze across the shuttle to Widowmaker being attended by Mercy. "She's tough. One of the toughest, gave us hell when she worked for Talon. She's relatively new to our team too. Your, well Lena, is the reason she's here. Some how in the middle of all the battling, those two, while always fighting one on one, fell in love with one another. Tracer explained the situation to our team and we went in to extract her, try to save her from Talon and bring the two together. Little did we know that Widowmaker, with Reapers help, was already making a break for it. We all met half way through our respective missions and then pulled out." Soldier told the man standing before him. Alexander, unlike Lena, was taller than average height, standing 6'3" to Jacks 6'1" and Lena's 5'4". "It sounds like the two of them have been through a lot. And that you have been looking out for my, if my maths and assumptions are correct, great granddaughter. I'd like to thank you for that. We may not know each other but she is blood." Alexander responded turning is attention back to Soldier. Soldier took a quick glance over his shoulder towards the cockpit. "She's been though a lot in her life. A major part of that was to help us, Overwatch, I'll have Winston give you her file and you can catch up on it. It's because of what she's done that makes her part of our family, maybe not by blood like yourself but by bond. We all look out for her because she has always looked out for us, on missions and at home. She goes beyond her conventional duty to keep us all together." Soldier told Alexander as he straightened himself to look back at the man. "That's good to hear. I'll bunker down at the back. Despite being a popsicle for about 60 years, I could use a nap. I'll be ready for the debrief when we arrive." Alexander said with a smile and Soldier gave a nod before moving on to check if Mercy, Reaper and Widowmaker needed anything. He wanted to check on Tracer but know she'd like the flying time to herself, plus it wouldn't be long until they were back in Gibraltar and at Overwatch Alpha so it could wait.
