The grim and gloomy building was the worst excuse for a house he'd ever seen, it was more like a long-abandoned prison or insane asylum rather than a once glamorous house. The doors and windows were covered with a thick layer dust that looked like it has been untouched for years. The windows of the "house" looked back at him like the eyes of an empty soul, along with the grand door at the entryway to the "house" that seemed to give him the impression it was a gateway to hell.
Alex stood there looking at the five burnt piles of dust and winced. "Oh great this won't go over well," he mumbled to himself as he turned to look at the scared freshmen girl he had seen being dragged into the abandoned house on the outskirts of town a few hours ago.
"Who are you?" she cried hiding as best as she could. Her neck was bit up. Blood gushed with sickening determination from her neck, as if her own heart sought to pump it from her body. Her fingers clamped over the wound, her face growing paler by the second. The scarlet blood lashed over the hold of her hand, painting the scene in which she would be found dead unless Alex did something quickly.
He just sighed and took off his leather coat and walked over to her. "Shh, it's ok... I have a friend coming to help, he'll get you patched up," he said in his most soothing tone he could. His eyes roamed the room they were in and he could see signs of others who meet their fate in this room limp and still warm. Well, he could smell it really, seeing it not so much.
The girl rushed forward once the coat was wrapped around her and she clung to Alex. "Thank you," she sobbed into his big chest.
Alex reached around her and hugged her softly. "What's your name?" he asked her softly.
"Amber... Fairchild," she sobbed into his chest.
"Ok Amber just relax and I'll get you out of here." he said as he picked her up like she was nothing in his arms.
"What were they... they seemed.... I saw their eyes... oh god... Their eyes!" she was slipping into panic and he knew it.
"Shh, stay with me Amber, I can help you," he said as he tapped into the pack bond and filled her with calm. He just hoped that the others did not feel him tapping the bond like this.
Amber had no clue where the feeling of calm came from, she guessed it was the big man holding her and she just let out a relaxed sigh and lay her head on his chest. "Umm you're big and strong," she nearly purred.
Oh great too much calm! Now she is so relaxed she is picking up my pheromones of being a Second.
"Shh just relax and I'll have you someplace safe in a moment." he said and stopped dead in his tracks as he was greeted with the sight of five Harleys parked outside with five people waiting on him.
"Alex!" an older woman called out his name.
"Yes ma'am," he said
"Come on don't just stand there, bring her out so I can look at her." the older woman said in a sharp tone that left no question who she was... an Alpha.
