"O, Romeo, o, Romeo wherefore art thou Romeo?"
Are the famous words you said
By love's dagger your heart bled
A handsome stranger you met one night
A heart-wrenching smile, oblivion to your family's fight
A dance was shared
Opinions were aired
You were thought to be lovers crossed in stars
But your story did not go far
When one night your lover came calling
You could not keep your heart from falling
"Arise, fair sun and kill the envious moon," said he
"Before dawn's first light, my wife, Juliet you shall be."
Wedlock was to be set in stone
But a difference in opinions left more than just broken bones
With dear, Tybalt dead
Your father wants Romeo's head
With a last glance he fled
With your heart in tatters, you had to make amends
So you, dear Juliet and Friar Lawrence devised a deed
But tribulations did it heed
You drank a potion, healed only by true love's kiss
Unfortunately, the memo Romeo did miss
He rode out, thinking you were dead
His own plan devised in his head
A vile of poison he drank
And for that you only have yourself to thank
True to its word, with a kiss you awoke
But to a dead lover beside you, regret it evoke
All that was left to do, with the dagger you grasped
Blood oozed as a swift movement plunged it into your chest
A split-second decision turned you into a tragedy that yet has to be best.
