Chapter 3: A New School Year

I groaned. Today was the first day of school. I slowly got out of bed and headed to the kitchen. I saw my mom cooking some eggs and bacon.

"Good morning Peridot." She greeted.

"Morning..." I tiredly said. I wasn't used to waking up at 6:00 in the morning everyday. During the summer, I would wake up in about noon. I walked to the table as my mom gave me a plate of eggs and bacon.

"I know it's the first day of school but I know you can handle it." She assures me. I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah yeah." I said as I took a bite of bacon. I quickly finished and began to change. I brushed my teeth and did my hair and I walked out of the door. My bus would usually stop at my neighborhood street. There was a person I know who lives on the same street as me. That would be a girl named Connie.

Connie was a sophomore, and her boyfriend was Steven who was also a sophomore. They were both really good friends of mine. I walked forwards the bus stop and waited.

"Hey Peridot! Excited for the first day?" Steven asks me. I rolled my eyes with a small smile.

"More like, nervous." I snorted. Steven laughs as he grips his firm on Connie's hand.

"I hope we have the same class together." Connie says as she looks up at Steven.

"Me too!" Steven says. The bus finally arrives and the three of us went on. I walked onto the bus to find a empty seat. The only spot with one person in it was the seat with Lars Barriga, who was one of the cool kids friends. I sat down and was met with the annoying conversations on the bus.

"Oh great, we're back in this hell hole." Lars groaned.

"I know dude, I rather be home playing some jams on my DJ set then go to school." Sour Cream says.

"Well I rather go partying then go to school!" I rolled my eyes as I put my earbuds in my ears. I looked for a song on my phone and I started listening to the Heather's soundtrack. Four songs later, we finally arrived at school and we all got out of the bus. I stared at the school. I took a deep breathe and slowly walked through the doors.

Everything was basically the same. Kids in their usual groups, school couples making out in the hallways, and the kids who think they were cool. I walked upstairs to find Lapis and her friends. Lapis told me she would be upstairs next to the C hallway. I walked towards to C hallway and saw Lapis.

She was with Jasper, like usual. I felt a pit of jealously in my chest, but I ignored it and ran towards them.

"Lapis!" I called out to her. She immediately turned and smiled.

"Peri!" She says as she ran towards me to hug me tightly. I hug her back, slowly patting her. We ended up embracing each other for nearly 40 seconds until we both pulled away.

"I'm so glad to see you again!" She cheerfully says.

"Me too." I smiled at her. I noticed Jasper walking towards us and stands besides Lapis. I frowned when I saw her, but smiled as I looked back up at Lapis.

"I hope we have some classes together." She says.

"Same, hopefully I don't get classes full of people I don't even know." I rolled my eyes. Lapis giggled as she booped my nose.

"H-hey! Don't do that!" I said, getting flustered. Lapis laughed as she wrapped an arm around me. I noticed Jasper standing awkwardly, rolling her eyes.

"Hey Lapis, I want at least one class with you." Jasper says as she walked up to her.

"Me too. Hopefully." She says as she hugged Jasper. I felt something sting in my chest again, but I ignored it once again. The bell suddenly rung for homeroom.

"Well I'll see you Peri! If we have a class together that is." She winked and me. We both hugged each other goodbye and went our separate ways. I took out my schedule and looked for my homeroom.

"B-12.." I mumbled to myself. I walked towards the B hallway and looked for my homeroom. I passed a few classrooms until I found the classroom homeroom was. I entered and sat down in a random seat. I only knew a few people in homeroom and that would be Connie and Sadie Miller.

"Hey Peridot." Connie greets me as she sat down in the desk next to mine.

"Hey." I awkwardly smiled back at her.

"I just found out me and Steven and are in two classes together!" She cheerfully says.

"That's cool! Which classes?" I asked.

"Hm, we both have Chemistry and English II together." Connie replies.

"Lucky you." I said. We both talked during homeroom time, and the bell finally rung for first period.

"I'll see you around!" Connie waved as she walked towards the other direction.

"Okay!" I said as I walked down the hallway. I took out my class schedule and began looking for my first period. I had Ms. Rose for Math III in D-24. I sighed now knowing my first period was math, the worst subject ever. I headed down the D hall and I found my class. I walked in and looked around. I didn't see anyone I knew yet, or if there is anyone I know. I sat down in a desk and looked around the class.

I saw a few students I did recognize walking in. There was Ronaldo, who I'm not really friends with, but he is one of Steven's friends. Then there was Jenny Pizza, who is one of the cool kids and also one of Steven's friends. My eyes widen as I saw the next person who walked in the classroom.

It was Lapis. My heart raced fast as I looked up at her. She seemed to noticed me and smiled.

"Peri!!" She shouted as she ran towards me. I got up and hugged her.

"I can't believe we're in math together!" She says as she buries her head into my shoulder. I blushed as I pulled away from her.

"Yeah, at least math is more better since you're here." I smirked. She laughs as she playfully punches my arm.

"Can I see your schedule?" She asks. I nodded as I passed it to her. She looked at it for a moment and gasped.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Looks like we have 3 classes together." She says while smiling at me.

AN: Sorry for not updating, I've been sort of busy and I was focusing on other fandoms. I've been getting into Hetalia again so, yeaaah...  I've also been busy with school and trying to get my grades up. I'll update this story whenever I can so stay tuned! C:
