Just as my eyes started to flutter closed and Brody was leaning down to kiss me, my phone rang. Completely ruining my perfect moment.
Brody steps back like I'm on fire and I grab my phone out of my back pocket. It's my mom.
"Hello" I say as I answer the phone.
"Amzie the more I think about what you said last night, the more I get upset." My mom sobs on the other end of the phone.
"Mom, I'm really sorry I was in a weird funk, but I'm out of it now and I'm sorry." I say as I turn away from Brody.
"So you didn't mean what you said?" Of course I did, my parents are never home.
"No, not at all. Have a good and safe trip. I can't wait for you to get home."
"Okay good, I love you." And with that my mom hangs up. As long as she can leave happy. I just don't understand them. Like they say they love me, and they show me that when they are home. But then they care so much more about their jobs than about Bent and I. It's all just so weird. One of them was always home when we were kids, we never had nannies or babysitters. But as soon as Bent was old enough to watch me over night they both started to leave at the same time. I mean I get loving your job and wanting to do that, but I just wish they loved being home.
I take a deep breath and turn back around to Brody. He is leaning against the counter looking at his phone. I wave my hand to get his attention. He looks up with a smile that melts all my problems away.
"Everything ok?" Brody asks as he slips his phone into his pocket.
"Yep, everything is great." I guess that is technically lying, but Brody won't care about my stupid problems.
"So um, do you still want me to take you home?"
I just nod, I'm too drained to talk anymore. He grabs his keys from the counter and we head to his car. He drives a black jeep, it's nice and smells just like him. I just sit the whole car ride taking in the wonderful smell and Brody plays the radio, which is nice considering he can't hear it. It means he was thinking about me.
I'm surprised that he knows the way to my house, but I guess he has been here before. I unbuckle as he pulls up to my house. Once he puts it in park I open the door and jump out. I sign thank you before I close the door. He gives me a small smile. And with that he drives off.
This morning has been weird, shoot this last week has been weird. I don't know what to even think of everything that has happened. I just need to sleep some more and figure it out. After I nap I need to call Em and Skyla. That's going to be a fun talk.
