When I walked in the house I was pretty satisfied with my day. I thought the new girl was going to be mean, but she seems pretty cool.

I walked upstairs to my room and changed into a white tank top and a pair of black shirts. My 13 year old little brother, Amondre, must be at basketball practice still because he isn't home yet. My mom is home though, because I smell food cooking downstairs in the kitchen.  It smells soo good. I decided to go downstairs and tell her about my day.

"Hey mommy," I said as I planted a kiss on her cheek and sat down at our marble island in the middle of our kitchen. She smelled so good, and so did the food she was making. It looked like barbecued wings on the stove top, rolls in the oven, and she was in the process of making potato salad. Delicious. I love my mother's cooking. I enjoy cooking, and my food almost tastes as good as hers. Most people say that I'm a small version of my mom, an exact version. She had slightly lighter skin than mine, and her small almond eyes are brown. Her hips are a bit wider than mine, and she's 5'4. The only thing that I didn't get from her was my shiny, long, bouncy dark brown curls. Her hair was sandy brown and its very short. Kinky, too.

"Hey honey. How was school?" She asked me. I told  her. "Well, there was this new girl today, and she kind of stared at me in first block for a good minute. I was nervous about it, but she came to sit with me at lunch and she talked to me, mom! No one ever talks to me. I'm confused but I'm kind of excited," I told her as I blushed. My mom knows I don't talk to anyone at school, and she knows no one talks to me.  Her eyes widened, and she smiled.

"Aweee ,Me Me! How great! You might finally have a friend," she smiled as she took the rolls out of the oven. 'Me Me' is my nickname that she's been calling me ever since I could remember. I smiled at the thought of having a friend. That would be nice. Even though me and New Girl didn't talk that much, we still sat together. I guess she noticed that I didn't have friends, and she came to be mine.

"Yeah, we'll see. When does Mondre get out of practice?" I asked her. She scurried to her phone to see what time it was, and looked at me worriedly. "Oh Gosh, he got out about 7 minutes ago! Could you go pick him up for me please?" She asked as she threw me the keys. I hate going to pick my brother up, because he always takes forever to come out, and he annoys me about what music to play. I grabbed the keys and sighed. "Yeah, sure. I'll be back in a few." I told her. I slipped on my fur slides and a jacket.

It was chilly when I stepped out of the door. I don't know why I came out the house with these shorts on. As I got into my mom's maroon Maxima, I quickly started the car and turned the heat on. I had to bring the seat forward in order to reach the steering wheel. I connected my bluetooth to the car before I drove off to my brother's middle school.

Even though it was only near 6:30, it was pretty dark outside because of daylight savings.  Luckily, my brother's middle school wasn't too far away. But driving at night is so creepy. I reminds me of scary movies, and I hate scary movies.

When I pulled up in front of my brother's gym, I pulled out my phone & texted him : I'm outside. Hurry tf up.

Of course he didn't text back right away. This little turd. I turned my  music up and leaned my seat back. Why not turn up a little, since I'll be waiting a while?

As I turned up my music, I looked up in my mirror and saw something dark run behind my car. I squinted my eyes to see what it could have been or where it went. Then I turned around in my seat to look out of the back window. I don't see anything...maybe it was a cat or a  kid playing around or something. I decided to forget about it until I saw it again- this time faster, and closer to my car. What the hell was that? I thought to myself. It looked black, but it was going by so fast that I couldn't make out the actual shape. I opened my door and thought about getting out to see what it was. I stepped my foot out the car and felt the cold breeze hit my thighs. "Fuck that." I brought my leg back in the car and closed the door. Why? Because one, it's too cold. Two, it was probably nothing. I looked out the back window one more time. Just darkness now.

When I looked out the passenger window, I jumped and nearly pissed in my shorts. A dark figure was standing outside the window. I screamed and locked the doors.

The figure started banging on the window.

I looked closer at the figure and saw Amondre's face. I unlocked the door and before he even got into the car good, I slapped him. "Don't do that shit again, You scared the crap out of me!" I yelled. He laughed and put on his seat-belt. "You're such a scaredy-cat, Esme. "Yeah yeah, whatever." I said as I pulled off. "Very funny how you ran behind the car to scare me. Haha, you got me," I told him.

He looked at me and laughed again. "I never even ran behind the car, stupid." I looked at him.

Yeah, whatever.
