The next day in school, I was kind of eager to get to English class. I looked around for New Girl. Since she didn't tell me her name, I'm gonna call her New Girl. I walked in my class, sat down, and waited.

Lots of students came in through the door at the same time. I scanned them for New Girl, but I didn't see her.  I kept waiting. The late bell rang and I still didn't see her.

Maybe she's not coming today. The teacher started writing on the board and I pulled out my notebook. Just as I looked up, I saw New Girl. She slowly walked into the classroom and sat down. I looked at her, and then the teacher. The teacher continued to write. Hm. Usually when someone is late, she marks something in her little book. She must be letting New Girl off the hook since she's new. I looked back at her and smiled. She smiled and waved. The guy sitting in front of her smiled at me. Um, I wasn't smiling at you, sir. I thought.

When class was over, I packed my things and waited for New Girl. She slowly walked up next to me and we left class together.

"I like the way you snook in class late without the teacher seeing you", I chuckled. She giggled. "I'm usually pretty good at that. I always did it at my old school." I asked her what school she went to. "Somewhere in Arizona, you wouldn't know the name if I told you." I decided that she was probably right. "Where's your next class"? I asked her. "Gospel Chorus. I hate that class,  I might just venture around the school until lunch time." That's not a smart choice. During class, our halls are packed with administrators and hall monitors, making it nearly impossible for anyone to skip without being caught.

"I don't think you should do that. There's a 99.9 percent chance that it wouldn't work out," I told her. She shrugged. "I'm very sneaky, as you saw. I'm pretty sure that they won't even see me." Maybe not. I hope not. I checked the time and told New Girl that I'd hopefully see her at lunch. She smiled and we walked our separate ways.

During second period, I couldn't help but think about New Girl hoping that she doesn't get caught skipping. I decided to say that she knew what she was doing, and I started to focus on my work.

At lunch, I got my usual pizza and tater tots and sat down in my usual spot. I looked around for New Girl nervously as I ate my tater tots. "Hi." I heard from behind me. I spun around and smiled. New Girl apparently made it.

"Hey! You didn't get caught!" I laughed. How the hell did she do that? She laughed too. "It was too easy. You should try it sometime." I looked at her sideways. I'll never skip class. I like school, and I need my education.

She sat down in front of me and watched me eat. "You don't want any food?" I asked her. She shook her head. "Nah, I don't really like food. Not as much as I like candy. I loove candy." She smiled. I nodded my head while I took a bite of my pizza. Candy is good. She reached into her satchel and pulled out a zip-lock bag full of candy. "Want some?" She asked. Of course! I nodded and she dumped the bag out on the table. None of this candy looks familiar, but it doesn't hurt to try it.

I opened up a pink packet with a pink taffy-looking thing inside and ate it. It. Was. Delicious. I widened my eyes as I chewed. I grabbed the blue ones and green ones and started popping them in my mouth. "These are so good! What are these?" I asked. She smiled. "Just the best candy in the world, from Arizona. I love them. I have lots of them at home." I continued to eat the candy, and I put some in my book-bag. "Thank you." I told her.

When I got home, I ran to the kitchen to talk to my mother. She wasn't here. I frowned. I'm home alone. I hate being home alone. I went to the freezer and took out the ice cream, my favorite. I made huge bowl and sat down in the living room, in front of the T.V. I turned to my favorite show, Love and Hip Hop, and started to eat. After I finished the bowl, I laid down and started to doze off.

I was awakened by a loud thud upstairs. I sat up. "Mom?" I asked. No one is home, so what was that noise?

Then the T.V shut off.
