Nikki's POV

"Nikki?"

Dean.

That's his voice. I heard his voice. He said my name. He said it as clear as day. I heard him. I heard him.

He's alive.

I wanted to see him, touch him, kiss him.

He was here. He is here. I know he is. I freaking heard him.

'Come closer' I wanted to shout. I had no idea where we was. Hell, I barely knew were I was.

Seconds later I heard a noise. In fact I heard several noises. Feet patting against the floor, squeaky wheels rolling, and telephones ringing.

Seconds passed and those sounds became muted. I was still able to make them out, but if I hadn't been paying them close attention, I wouldn't have heard a sound.

Had those sounds been happening everyday and I've just been unaware this entire time?

Everything was still for a moment, then a low noise filled my ears. The noise was a low buzz that was steadily getting louder until it suddenly stopped.

It was silent for a few seconds longer before a shaky breath was released.

Dean.

It was Dean.

He was here. He was right here.

"Sunshine." I heard his voice say quietly, "Can you hear me?"

'Yes I can hear you!' I wanted to scream. 'I can hear you, baby. I can hear you.'

But he couldn't hear that, so the room remained silent, the only sound audible being the beeping of the heart monitor.

"I..." he commented softly, "I miss you."

'I miss you too...'

"I'm sorry." He spoke, "For this. For all of this. For hurting you...I should have never even asked you. I should have made you stay there or told you to go away, for your sake... I'm sorry sunshine..."

'Don't be sorry...'

I didn't want him to apologize. There was nothing for him to be sorry for. It was my decision to climb onto the balcony with him. I could have said no, but I didn't want to risk losing him.

He remained silent for a moment, then there was a small sigh.

"I love you." He spoke softly.

'I love you too.'

There was silence for a moment and then something happened.

My hand started tingling. It felt like it had fallen asleep, only it hurt worse than that.

Wait... it hurt?

I hadn't been able to feel anything as of late so the feeling of pain was... well I'm not sure if it was a curse or relief.

The tingling traveled from my hand all the way up my arm. With each passing second the pain growing a bit worse.

I let out a grunt of frustration but tried to suck in a breath of air to try and calm myself, only my chest suddenly felt like it was on fire.

"Nikki?" I heard Dean question, then again in a more urgent tone, "Nikki?"

The pace of the beeping in the room was on a steady rise as I attempted to catch my breath.
