The following weeks were hell for both of them. It is such a cliché of so near yet so far. To others they act as normal acquaintances or classmates. Gab and Kyla was convinced the two guys were no longer together. Jason never really cared that much. The rest of their team were more than happy to have Travis’ full attention especially during their preparation for the state championship, but unfortunately they lost and it took a toll for the seniors, that being their last game in high school.
Travis and Zack kept their dating to minimal and with less time to avoid suspicions. They were almost caught at the toilet by one of the son of Mr. Deeley’s co-worker. He didn’t ask any questions to why the two were so close to each other but when Travis arrived home the next day, his father begun interrogating him, thus confirming that his father did have eyes on the campus.
Their lunch time together at the roof top was down to once a week. On one Saturday, the two did manage to enjoy a time together as they drove to the cliff near woods overlooking the whole town. They had a picnic together, sharing laughers and stories, just treasuring their moments not knowing when they will have another opportunity like this.
Harold’s party before thanks giving was another excuse for them to be together. After some time with the others in the party, the two met at the same dock where they first kissed.
“I really miss you” Travis stated before leaning in for a kiss. They kissed for a while with more longing that ever, until they are both out of breath.
“How long are we going to keep going like this?” Zack drops his shoulder with a sigh “I mean, I know we are not open to public, but I miss how we can be free with each other anytime we wanted. I wanted to be with you every lunch time and after school.” Travis was strictly ordered to arrive home right after school after the football season was over, hence not having time to spend with Zack after school. They only communicated through text and messages via the internet, and Travis made sure to erase all traces of contacting Zack after each communication if ever his father decided to check on his phone.
“It will be over soon I promise” he wraps his arms around Zack “people get tired and forget.”
“What if it didn’t?”
“Then we have to wait till we are off to college. By then we can be free to do what we want”
“But what if we go to different schools and are far away from each other?” Zack asks while removing the sticker label of Travis’ beer bottle.
“I will find a way to get close to you, there will be schools that are near to whatever college you are going to.”
“But what if -” Travis immediately interrupted Zack, “stop worrying” he gave him a quick kiss on his forehead. “we’ll make it work”
That made Zack stop with questioning, but it still concerns him. “I never asked you where you plan to study or what course you gonna take did I?” says Travis
“I’m not sure about the school, but I do want to be a medical technologist but I suck at chemistry and microbiology so I guess that’s out.” Zack gave out a huge breath while Travis chuckles.
