Zack waited for ten minutes and Travis wasn’t still there. He sent him a couple of message, but hasn’t received a single reply. He convinces himself that Travis might be stuck in traffic or is talking to someone. Fifteen minutes passed and still nothing. Ringing Travis was of no use, the call went straight to voice mail. Zack was getting worried, he was pacing while hugging his shoulders as the evening grows older.
“Zack? why are you still here?” Mrs. Haynes came out of the house with a small blanket over her shoulders. “I thought you’d already left with Travis?”
“I don’t know mom, I think something is wrong” he answered, anxious and cold “He’s not answering my calls or texts”
Mrs. Haynes wraps the blanket over the two of them. “Let’s wait inside, it’s getting pretty cold out”. Zack didn’t hesitate, they walked inside the house but he glances back before Mrs. Haynes closes the door.
“What time did you last talk to him?” She asks heading to the kitchen and boiling some water for coffee.
“about fift-” he checked the time from the wall clock on the living room “30 minutes”
“I’m sure he’s just caught with something, he might be there any second now” then they heard a car stopping. “see that must be him right now” she cheered
Zack brushes the curtain for a peek, his sudden relief was back to worry when he saw that it was the neighbours car. “it’s the neighbours” he mumbled.
His mother gave him a hot cup of tea while he sits on the couch waiting. A minute, two, five and now ten minutes. Its 45 pass five now. Zack knows they are no longer going to the concert but it bothered him more that Travis isn’t still there, or even answer him.
Desperate, he rang up Jason. “Hey jay, is Travis with you?”
“Well...” there was a long pause before he spoke again “he told me to tell his parents that he was hanging with us. He said he was going somewhere. It seems important.” Jason huffed.
“We were supposed to go to a concert to Rhyville and that was an hour ago.” His breathing was quicker and he can hear his own heart beat. “He never showed up”
“I assume he haven’t answer your calls or text either”
“yeah, what do you think happened?”
“Honestly, I don’t know” Zack can here Jason talking to others asking if any of them talked to Travis or received any messages the pass hour.
“What?” Zack asks, dread was getting into him
“nada, they have nothing. I suppose I need to call their home phone. I’ll call you back after”
“Ok, thanks” Jason ended the call and Zack placed his on the coffee table in front of him.
Mrs. Haynes stayed beside her son. She turned on the TV to relieve some stress.
Breaking News:
A devastating car accident occurred at the intersection of Lionel and Parker Street, here in Brookspoint this afternoon which left a young man dead and two others in the hospital. –
Upon hearing the location of the accident, Zack immediately turns his head towards the television. One of his worse fears had come true. He eyes began to water, hoping that Travis will eventually turn up outside their house and that he was just caught up with the incident but not in it. He held his mother’s had in a tight grip as they listen to the rest of the report.
